What is your opinion of nudists/naturists?

Do you feel this is strange or is it normal for some folks to want to be naked all the time? What are your thoughts on nudist resorts, clothing-optional vacations, etc?

It's absolutely normal to me. My parents are nudists and I was raised in a nudist family. We weren't naked all the time, even at home, and especially in winter. We went to nudist clubs and hot springs where clothing was optional and I never wore a swimsuit until I went to a pool party when I was in elementary school. I wear a swimsuit only when I have to. I haven't bought a new one in four years and haven't worn one in about three.

My best friends are all nudists. I never had any problem making friends at nudist places. Nudists are generally very fun and accepting people. It's a safe place for kids because everyone watches out for everyone else's kids. Men tend to dominate the usual people who go because women are so hung up on how they look or they are afraid of being stared at. More women should go and not be so concerned with how they look and what people will think. More young adults should go too. I'm generally the youngest person at most places I go (not counting kids.)

Hi, I believe that people need to be free to exercise their own philosophy of life whether it be popular or unpopular. Despite what some people invovlved in lawmaking and law enforcement think, nudism is actually well within the rights of your First Amendment and Second Amendment. I think it is sad that the stereotypical American nudist today tends to be either ageing hippies or obese middle-aged men. It goes to show that the lifestyle is not as healthy as it once was. If you look at some of the nudist films made from the 1930's to late 1960's, they almost exclusively featured very fit and athletic looking people engaged in sporting activities like tennis, cricket, football and volleyball and often with their children in tow. This was in the days before the sexploitation film makers got a toe-hold in the nudist movement. I also feel quite sorry for those who put their trust in photographers who befriend them in order to unknowingly sell their photos to porn sites. I wish nudists had more positions of power in the world such as over the media, politics, commerce, and religious leadership. I'm sick of them being uniformly treated as a joke or in the worse instance hardened criminals and sex offenders.

I have been to a number of nudist resorts with my wife and we love it. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the sun, beach, pool whatever without having to worry about clothes. We have been to dances at night in the nude as well. Contrary to popular belief there is no sex in public at these places. Just because you are naked doesn't mean you change your behaviour and start having sexual contact in public.

Everyone should be comfortable with their selves. It is sad that so many are embarrassed or dissatisfied with how they look. Being nude can be relaxing and enjoyable. Swimming for instance is much more comfortable without a tight suit on. Now at a camp I worked at there were people playing tennis with only shoes on. That did not look comfortable it looked painful for both the men and women.

I say dress how ever you want.

Too bad they're almost always old or ugly.

Seriously: (though the above is true!)

I can understand it feels more free. Especially when it's hot outside and you don't have clothes sticking to you by your sweat.

Maybe it has an exhibitionist side to it for some.

There's no harm in it when they don't go nude outside the resort.

Been on such a camping once, kept my clothes on, it's not my thing.

If they have a specific place for it, I think it's fine. Of course if some walked onto a normal beach, I would feel a little awkward but otherwise it's their preference they can do what they want within limits of course like everyone else. For example drinkers=bars, fitness people=gym, bowling alley=bowlers, it's that simple, in my opinion anyway.

I would support making public nudity legal. With some restrictions, however. I don't want sweaty nude people coming onto the bus or train and getting their juices all over the seat.

But if they want to walk around town naked, let 'em go for it.

I think they're normal. Most cultures have sexualized the human body to the point where showing too much skin is taboo. We were created and born naked. I think it's completely natural and there's nothing wrong with it.

It's not strange; it's normal and it's well past time to recognize that they should be permitted to share much more space on this planet than they're presently allowed.

Normal. The alternative is to be irrationally compulsive about hiding yourself in shame, and being intolerant of others. To not fully accept and embrace being human.
