I have heard that hackers get your personal information if you leave your computer on all the time.

This is an "Apples and Oranges" argument - I always turn mine off when not in use. Then you do not have to worry.

Hackers can get your personal information when your on it anyways, so what does it matter...and what's the odds of someone hacking your pc? you have a firewall, you will know when someone's hacking through your firewall. I turn my off when I dont use it, like say when I go to bed, or go to my gf's house..I sometimes leave it on all day...lol whatever though, its your call

Just dont do anything stupid and the hackers wont get in. If your computer is on all the time, it will over heat and begin to wear down and destroy parts. Sometimes my computer is just better if I give a couple of hours to break

i leave mine on all the time - never had any trouble with it. And plus there are features like sleep and hibernation that put the computer in a partially off state when you aren't using it to save power and such.

well not all the time , you can leave your PC turn on but disconnect from the internet. Also if you don't download junk from the internet, your computer is safe

well if you leave it on all the time it racks up the electricity bill and it will eventaully slow down. and i dont think hackers can get into your personal stuff unless you leave signed into something important. but i doubt it.

No, that's retarded. Leaving your computer on should be just fine. Servers on the web can stay on for years at a time with no problems.

I'm gonna have to agree with fred...only I'm nicer and wouldn't swear at you ;). One you'll save electricity by turning it off and two you're definitely not susceptible to hackers when its off.

hackers can and it is also a wase of electricity an average computer is 300 watts

put it in stand by. it will go in a low power mode and when you turn it back on it will still have all your programs running and wont take ten minutes to start up.
