The only real difference is their fins. I personally like Commons better. Butterfly Comets would be really nice for ponds though. - http://www.exoticgoldfish.net/breeds-common.html -

Techincally they are the same... and this age it is difficult to seperate them.

Common goldfish tend to be more stubby and have less finnage. Comet goldfish tend to be more slender and have long flowy finnage.

Personally common goldfish are better. IMO i have found common to be more hardier than comet. Now it will vary based on the stock that you get them from. But commets will get alittle larger and can swim alot faster.

Neither. Goldfish are so messy and produce so much waste that they require ridiculous aquarium sizes for just one or two fish! I have nothing against large tanks, of course, but prefer them stocked with the appropriate number of colorful, interesting tropical fish, rather than one or two goldfish.

Just my opinion, of course. If you know all about goldfish and want one anyway, get whichever one you like the best.

    Comet

But when I went to petco I looked at the fish and I saw a fish that glowed under florescent lights. Its was so cool. I would get one of those glowing fishes.
