Why does anyone take diet and health advice from Oprah?

She's the textbook example of "doing it completely wrong." Yo-yo diet here and there, drinking lots of soy milk while on thyroid medication (a big no-no), making up all kinds of excuses for being fat...and people still take her seriously.

    I'm not an Oprah watcher, but I get what your saying.

    I read something yesterday on WebMD about people who try to loose weight, and only ONE out of 100 kept it off. (something like 5000 in the test group). Guess what those few people did different? Yup -- they make a lifestyle change when it came to eating properly, and they included moderate exercise. Shocking I know.

    Thing is, i see this all the time at the gym. I get so frustrated but can't say anything. (not for me to comment). Ladies on these silly super restrictive 'diets', they loose 20 lbs, feel great about it, then end it...and poofta! 2-3 months later they are emotional wrecks because they weight came back. So what do they do? Choose another super restrictive diet and repeat the whole thing. I'm pretty sure this qualifies as a learning disability. :)

Especially for the reason that you're doing a million:forty five of endeavor 6 days every week. Your BMI is good inside the healthful weight, 21.eight.     I remember when I was overweight. About 6 years ago before I started lifting weights I was up to 185 lbs. thanks to my love for mountain dew and junk. I didn't use any "diets of the week." All I did was PERMANENTLY change the way I was eating. I cut out soda and started eating healthier, without adding ANY exercise, I lost 40 pounds.

    Once I learned more about weight lifting 2 years ago I put on 15-20 pounds of muscle just by staying motivated to lift weights properly and effectively.

    It is a lifestyle change that is needed to see the best results, there is no quick fix. Enjoy the ride.

    Because its not her offering the advice. When she has people like dr oz on the show he is the one giving the advice not her.
