Eastern philosophy teaches you how to think and experience life according to your own path (consider Buddhism, the Zen experience, Hinduism as expressed in the Gita and Upanishads).

Western philosophy teaches you what to think and how best to understand your place in a world of others (See pretty much everyone from Plato to Heidegger to Sartre).

I'm not putting down the west here. But that's what I've seen as the fundamental difference between the two.

extremely there is not any difference in the two. using fact maximum Western philosophy became incredibly inspired with the aid of eastern philosophy and/or faith. As maximum languages branched from Sanskrit, so did religions . Hinduism had distinctive Gods in the past the Greeks and Romans. yet which could be argued for days and weeks. the biggest difference between the two is that Western philosophy is extra in accordance with uncomplicated sense and technological understanding, and the eastern philosophy is extra of an precis perspective in accordance with instinct and detatchment to exterior circumstances of the international.

Western philosophy, by which I assume you mean western religion, and eastern philosophy, by which I take it you mean Hindu philosophy/religion, are both the same in that they are renunciate (require self-sacrifice) and authoritarian, though the eastern version is much less bland, and much more colorful and complex than its western counterparts.

Western Philosophy : Eat, Drink and be Merry! (Khao, Peo, Mouz Karo)

Eastern Philosophy: Sacrifice and enjoy (Tena Tyaktena Bhunjiyha)

Western philosophy seems to seek answers from outside themselves - seeking God in a book or in a church.

Eastern philosophy seems to me to be searching for answers (or God) from within.

In the west you inherently broken and need salvation from forgiveness of others.

In the east it seems to be acceptance and forgiveness of self.

But I am probably wrong, I often am.
