Is it possible for a cat to come back as a ghost?
Well, this question may seem silly, but please try to help me out, no rude comments please, or you will be reported.
My parents had this female cat named Whiskey even before I was born. I grew up with her. She was so lovable. A few months ago, she passed away. Ever since then, me and my parents decided to get a new kitten. Weird things happen all the time. My old cat used to sleep on this rug we have in the kitchen, and just a few weeks ago I was looking into the kitchen doorway and there she was, sitting on the rug. When I glanced back, she was gone. Another time, about 4 days ago, I was sitting at my computer desk, and I felt something rub up against me, like when a cat is being friendly. I looked down thinking it was my kitten, and I went to pet what I thought was my new cat, and nothing was there. I looked behind me, and my new cat was sleeping, so it wasn't her. The same thing happen to my mother when the new cat wasn't even here yet. Just yesterday, my father was laying down is his bed watching TV, and he felt something jump upon the bed, and walk on him. He called me into the room, and asked me where the new cat was, and she was in the living room, so it wasn't her. We were all stunned. There are times where I'll look out a doorway, or just be on the computer or something and see her, and then look back and she's gone. I miss her, but I don't set my mind on her, so it's not like I'm seeing things. I'm not trying to see her. It's just like she's making it known she didn't leave. We do have her ashes here because we cremated her, so maybe she's sticking around, but I'm not sure. It's never my new cat because she's a kitten, way smaller and skinner, and a whole different color. I just don't know if it's possible for a cat to come back as a ghost...Someone please help me! I feel bad for her!
Thank you!
Thanks to everyone who answered! She was 17 when she passed away. =(

First off I am sorry for your loss. Pets are never here in this life with us long enough. And it is never easy to lose them.
Whiskey is still with you no doubt. Pets can and do come back to visit their owners after they have crossed the rainbow bridge. I just a read a book a few months ago about pets that came back to visit their owners after passing. It was called Tales From Beyond and I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested it that type of subject. You can find out more about it at www.talesfrombeyond.com. I would love for one of my deceased pets to visit me. Sadly I have never had that happen. Whiskey just wants to let your family know that she is happy, healthy and whole again and also at peace. She loved your family so much that she has chosen to come back at times to make sure you are all doing ok.
I will tell you something else, when it comes time for your parents to pass and you also Whiskey will be there to greet you along with all the other pets that you have owned (not just the ones from this life either).
Does your new little kitty sit and maybe stare at a spot or act like she is seeing something you aren't? If so she is also seeing Whiskey. If you are uncomfortable with her visits you can always tell Whiskey that she is dead and to go home (heaven), go to the light. If you do that she may not come back to visit though. I think that if she is not a constant presence she is not earthbound and haunting you. I think she just wants to see and be around you and your family to make you happy.
In the future when it comes time for another animal to pass you can talk to it and ask it to come back to visit and let you know that it is at peace and sometimes they will.
I think you are lucky that she has chosen to visit you again.

Well, I'm not sure if it is possible, but I do believe in ghosts. There are some things in this life that just can't be proven. I know some people are going to comment back on your question saying that your stupid and stuff, but who would make that up?!?!?! I used to have a cat named S'mores, and he was FIV + . I also have a cat that is FIV - named Heather. heather and S'mores were the best of friends. Heather was 9 when S'mores died at 14 because of his FIV. After he passed, I would watch Heather in the hallway. She wasn't watching me and didn't know I was there. She would stop in the middle of the hallway, start purring and move her head as if she were headbutting another cat.
At first I thought she was just pretending to do that, until one day when I came home from the animal shelter early. I heard Heather meowing upstairs in my bedroom. it sounded as if she was having a conversation with another cat, except I only heard her meowing. I went to my room and saw Heather with her back towards me having a meowing on my chair. This chair was S'mores favorite spot, and she kept headbutting the air.
Although it might sound weird, I believe that cats can come back as ghosts.

confident this is achievable and that i believe in ghosts. in case you're incredibly near to that deceased cat then this is in all hazard. Watch your different cat and if she responds in unusual way like hair status on back, worry, watching area while no longer something's there, etc , then be suspectful that he's around. My different cat died from some mexican animal killer after he ran out of my residing house so few days later my different cat have been given her back fur status up and iced over on an analogous time as gazing an area. Then later she grow to be unhappy and depressed.... so.... this is achievable.

i have had a lot of cats come back as ghosts. they are either trying to show you that they are ok or sometimes the cat wont move on because they know your sad about them passing and they dont want you to be so they are trying to comfort you. but if the cat hasnt moved on yet then the cat will be in pain. if it has moved on and is coming back just to show you its ok then its fine. i see my past cats walking around my house all the time. i see my first ever dog as well. if you want to talk email me or IM me.

Yeah definitely! If humans can do it why not cats too! I think she is just letting you know that she is still around. If anything its kind of a good thing. You will miss her, but eventually you'll be fine especially with a new kitten around.

Obviously you think its your cat, so it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. Bottom line everyone will have an opinion. There is no way to prove it or not to prove it. If you want to think its your cat, it wont hurt anything.
The one important thing you do have to remember. People do tend to put human tendency's on animals. Which they are animals not humans.

most definately, believe me ; its possible.
Theres always an after life even if its for an animal or human. Especially since your parents have had her almost a decade, shes most attached to you because you were basically the closest to her. Dont get scared or anything, its normal.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! OMG yea i sososossoso believe you, i think they do come back possibly because my one cat died and i still saw him just like you do! and then you do a double take and its not there! idk what to think about it. It happened for about a month but then stopped. Maybe the cat, or a family member is not ready to let go. Talk to your family, she needs to move on, she cant be on earth forever after death.

never had done, but have been walking at night and would whistle for my dog to come with me. he got put to sleep, but would follow me all around town. i felt like he would still follow me around, so my fear against dogs was gone. so i feel that maybe it was cause i was fearless that these dogs would stay back, and not the ghost dog that i imagined would follow me around. who knows but things might just happen like that....
