Who should pay for Michael Jackson's funeral?

They're already fighting about this. Apparently, the state of California, broke as it is, cannot afford the police/fire/traffic/emergency services that a funeral of this magnitude will require. Who should foot the bill for this? The taxpayers of California (don't forget, they are MAKING money from this spectacle), AEG, Jackson's promotional company, or, as in very bad taste it has been suggested, Jackson's family? I remember back in 1977 Memphis was deluged for Elvis' funeral but I don't seem to remember anything about them sending Priscilla a bill for it.

What do you think?

it was the jackson family that decided to make this funeral a three ring circus..M.Jackson lived the last 10 years of his live in almost total seculsion..he was a private man, would have wanted a private ceremony..His family are carrying on like he was messiah..THE FAMILY SHOULD PAYFOR EVERYTHING..

If the State pays for his funeral, he will not be buried in a cemetery where people must pay. Funerals like that are held in a State or City run graveyard with a marker only, not an elaborate gravestone. Can the procedes from tickets sold be used, if his family refuses.

They should just burn his corpse and throw the ashes in a dump. Costs next to nothing and nothing could be more fitting for a pedophile. Along with that it is amazing how CNN is playing the same loop of Michael Jackson coverage for the past week even though the Iran issue is way more important which gets no coverage at all on the TV.

His estate should pay all costs. The government (taxpayers) are not responsible for his lifestyle, death, or the results thereof. The mind set of fans (for whoever) and the media are responsible for any spectacle such an event may cause. Such idiocy of fans does much to create added financial burdens in such cases as this. Let them pay an attendence fee.

Oh god, now they are putting the casket in the middle of the musical performances and the whole world is watching the crazy people of the USA.

I wish LA had stopped this from happening.

keep the funeral simple and his fans could pay for it by donating a small amount each to a website set up for the cause.otherwise his family should, just like everyone else.

I think that his funeral expenses should come out of his estate, just like anybody else.
