I'm surprised that... ------->?

People aren't making a stink about Josh Hamilton is starting the ASG... Lol.

If I was a fan of another team, I'd be sort of pissed. Josh has been out practically half the season, and yet he still starts? Of course, being a Rangers fan I am NOT complaining!

But what do you think?

Also, consider this your chance to gripe about the ASG starters. Who did not deserve to be there, and who did? I'd love to hear your opinions. :)

What the heck??? Lol

Update 2:

Lol... Mimi, it didn't just seem like months, it WAS months!

I totally agree that Torii Hunter was far more deserving of an ASG start.

So there. Who says I'm totally biased? Lol

I'm frustrated that Torii was behind a guy who's had ab surgery and was out for what seemed like months. I know he's still reserve but I still think he should start

But no use in me complaining because its over and he is in fact gonna play though he backed out of the HR derby.

Hamilton and Bay. I don't think Jason Bay has put up all star numbers. He's batting 260. Oh wow. He's an all star alright (sarcasm). I would definitely prefer to see Crawford starting over him as Crawford has put up some great numbers this year. And Hamilton, as you mentioned, but for some reason I'm not as mad about him as I am about Bay even though that's where Torii Hunter should be. I think Hamilton is very capable of playing a good game, even if his numbers don't show that, I'm sure they will (although being an Angel's fan I hope they don't =)

And seriously Pedroia at second? Give me a break. He's batting 290, which I guess is okay if he's got some homeruns to go with them, but he doesn't. He's an average at best defender, and although he's got some speed, so do half the other second basemen in the league. I would rather see Izturis, our back up second basemen who has gotten most of the starts this year (Kendrick got hurt) play over him. Hill deserves to be the starter and I think Kinsler might be the back up over Pedroia, but it's pretty close there.

I really don't have a problem with Jeter at short, I think he's a great player and is having a pretty good season. Longoria is a must have at third as is Mauer behind the plate and Ichiro in right. At first base I figured all the Yankee fans said "we'd better vote Tex or Youk might get it" and all the Red Sox fans said vice versa, and as they both have the biggest fan bases, Morneau never really had a chance even though he does have some impressive numbers.

I really don't think the NL is so bad at all, I think it should be a good game. The only thing I'm surprised about is Yadier Molina starting behind the plate. I guess it's okay, but I'd rather see either Brian McCann or Bengie Molina. Oh well, not the end of the world.

I like Hamilton, but I wouldn't have voted him in as a starter this year. Torii Hunter deserves a spot, and he's still on the squad, so all is well.

As others have mentioned, I'm not convinced that Pedroia deserved a starting spot. I thought Ian Kinsler had the second base spot wrapped up a few weeks ago. At least he has a fighting chance with the Final Vote. I'm glad Aaron Hill made the team, though. He's not as well-known as some others, but I thought he earned a spot and I voted for him a couple times.

I don't agree with him starting the All Star Game or even being in the All Star Game this season. His numbers don't represent an All Star and he was out for over a month. Torii Hunter deserves to start with the numbers he has but up along with Hill over Pedroia, Morneau over Teixeira, and Bartlett over Jeter.

Also Griffey never got voted in in a year that he was hurt. The only years he got voted in and was hurt was in 1995 and 2004 but he got injured after the All Star break in 2004. He still got voted in in 1995 but he missed those games because he shattered his wrist after he made one of the best catches all time.

I agree however, the ASG is a popularity contest. Every baseball fan and even people who arent know the Josh Hamilton story.

Griffey Jr. was always hurt and still voted to start.

The Allstar game is a popularity contest, fans just vote for their favorites. The All star squads should be picked by the players only.

The fans pay the freight and get screwed every time you turn around. This is about the only thing they get so whoever they want to vote for is fine with me. If they want Josh then give 'em Josh.

  • Personally i think the voting is a joke anyway as it's become more of a popularity contest instead of who really deserves to go in.

  • Yeah, I'm surprised too. I really didn't think he deserved to start (no offense).

I think that Pedroia shouldn't get to start and either Kinsler or Hill should be starting. I think that Hunter instead of Hamilton, but that's just my opinion.
