Do you think the Lions..?

should just start Matt Stafford? I mean, they can't get any worse right?

He is their QB of the future and shouldn't be thrown in there too soon where he can suffer a debilitating injury so early into his career. With the pitiful season that the Lions had a year ago any win total is an improvement and they should start the season off with veteran leadership and Daunte to see where it can go from there. Not much is expected and if it seems that the same winless situation will go down by all means put in Stafford either way to get his feet wet immediately for next season.

Starting Matt Stafford can definitely make it worst. It is not a good idea to stick in a rookie QB out there for a wake up call of being a pro. Playing in the pros is very different from college. You are playing with the elite of the elite. Playing him too early could mess up his confidence level, especially with so much more weight put upon him. With a high dollar investment like the #1 overall pick, you first have to get him ready and not experiment with him.

Perfect example of what could happen if the Lions don't wait: Alex Smith

Perfect example if the Lions do wait: Aaron Rodgers

Both QBs were from the same draft class.

Thumbs up to those who agree.

No, they can get worse by continuously making the wrong decisions. Starting Stafford now would only ensure that they wasted their pick and ruined his career. He needs to be brought along slowly. He is nothing special, he was just the best quarterback in a terrible quarterback class, and if he is not treated with care, he will crumble into a pile of misery just like the overrated no.1 picks before him.

The Lions need to realize that they suck, they need to hire on some good coaches and give them time to insert their schemes. Let Stafford learn the system and feel confident with it before throwing him into the fire. Give Stafford time to adjust to the NFL. As for right now, the Lions need to use Culpepper. At this point Culpepper would give them a better chance to win anyways.

You think Culpepper should get the start? The Lions make no sense, drafting good Wrs every year and then never getting them the ball. I feel horrible for Calvin Johnson, who is easily a top 5 receiver in the league with no one to pass him the ball. Stafford should start and just keep throwing them up to Johnson. I personally thing Johnson should come to DA BEARS!!! I'm sure Jay could find him on the field. Either way, Bears win the division XD

No way should they start Stafford. Let him sit a few weeks and let him see a real NFL game. Let him learn from Culpepper. Then, as long as Culpepper isn't completely running the team into the ground, wait until week 8 to start him. They will be coming off a bye week and playing at home against the Rams. That would be a good week for him to start.

He is a kid that needs experience he needs to ride the bench for at least a couple games to get to know the NFL speed and toughness. Culpepper will be a good instructor to him. He should learn first then start, the Lions need patients at this time. You shouldn't start a rookie right away like that. The Falcons did it because they had great WR's and O-Line also they could pound it up the middle with Turner. Same with the Ravens they had a good O-line, the best defense, and good WR, also exceptional RBs.

I'd see how Culpepper is at first, but since that probably aint going to work w/ that makeshift o-line, yeah they may as well, what the heck!

no, because he'll let the team down and besides, Stafford will be a draft bust anyway, you know what happened to all those other guys who were drafted in the first round, and then flunked.

No, they will start Daunte Culpepper

I think they should. There isn't anything they can lose by doing it. However, they do have Daunte Culpepper who is a capable QB.
