New terminology for "Rave"?
Hello .uk.yahoo.answers! I am an American who will hopefully no longer be in this country for very much longer, and I came across a forum citing the word "Rave" to be out of date. What are raves called now? Or was that individual just confused. (Oh, and I mean rave as in a Dance party with electronic music and not the opposite of "rant")

Noone has "raves" anymore.
Raves used to be known as a bunch of people, around 100+, would go to a field in the middle of nowhere and have generators for music etc and they'd make as much noise as possible because they were in the middle of nowhere and no police would disturb them.
Raves are also very well known for the drugs that get taken there, like Ectasy.
Raves aren't around like they used to be, they used to be illegal raves every weekend, but not now, you usually get 1 every 6 months happening.
Now, i guess you would just go to a festival.

Rave's are very much still happening in the UK but probably not in as many numbers as it used to be. Police cracked down in my area yet they are still happening.
However as far as I'm concerned I still call it a rave, it might depend on what part of the country you live in.
