assistance with pierced ears?

i had my ears pierced 7 years ago.

for the next 5 years after that, my ears were infected and swollen. maybe it was caused by wearing cheap earrings at first, but i tried it all- bacetracin, hydrogen peroxide, even 14 karat gold & sterling silver. but still, my ears remained messed up. so for the past 2 years i haven't worn earrings. oddly, the holes never closed up. now i want to wear earrings again, but i'm afraid to mess them up again.

help....

Update:

what to clean ears/earrings with, etc... have no idea.

It sounds like you have developed an allergy to the metal used in many of the inexpensive earrings. Go to any place that sells earrings and ask for a package of plastic ear protectors. They may not have them on display, but most every place that sells earrings has the protectors. A popular brand in my area is E'arrs. These are plastic sleeves that go over the posts on your earrings so the metal does not come in contact with your skin. The protectors usually come with plastic backs that replace the metal backs on your earrings.

Don't get any earrings that were "Made in China", because they put "lead" in thier earrings which make your ears get infected. When they are made in the USA, they are not allowed to put the metal "lead" in it. (Not pencil lead)

If you want try them again you go girl. Just make sure that they are not ones you are alergic to because some people are alergic to some metals. also make sure you keep them clean
