Why are Christians so scared and paranoid about "Gay Marriage"?

When marriage was originally for legal rights?.

Gays don't give a **** about what it's called, They just want the same legal rights.

Update:

Gay marriage is looked down upon because more straight people=More Christian followers.

It is a giant pyramid scheme.

Update 2:

Marriage will always stay between to animals of the same species.

Breaking "Tradition" won't change that.

The worst you would see is someone like Paris Hilton having a faux "Wedding" for her dogs.

Update 4:

Rista, So should infertile people not have sex?

Not get married?

Didn't think of that?

Orientation is not something that is chosen, Most Christians only find it disgusting because they are straight or LGBT suppressing it.

Update 5:

I didn't say it did, I was making fun of Paris.

Update 6:

To coco:

Why did God make people with birth defects?

Like Helen Keller?

Is that the Devil too?

Reply.

Did you choose to be straight?

Why would someone want to be something that is looked down upon by people like you

Update 7:

Charles, I own and use a Ouija, Spirits have nothing to do with your failed argument.

Update 8:

Charles, I own and use a Ouija, Spirits have nothing to do with your failed argument.

Update 9:

And one religion?

Have you not heard of choice and diversity?

You are deluded and brainwashed.

    I don't get that way and I'm a Christian.

Not all Christians are the type you describe or have encountered.

I feel that if two people want to be married who am I to try and stop them?

If it was reversed and heterosexual marriage was the hot button issue I wouldn't want someone to tell me I can't marry someone I love.

Who are they? They are human just as I.

They shouldn't able to deprive me of something they don't know and can't see.

If they are true Christians they would practice tolerance,"do onto others" and "love thy neighbor."

This would be the perfect time for it.

Gays who want to marry are ultimately two human beings who want to be together.

That makes them the same as any other consenting adults.

I am not the authority on who can marry who.

It isn't my choice and it isn't my job to judge them.

Quite frankly I think the types of Christians that are stuck in the whole "gay ain't the way" mentality are just that. STUCK.

They are complacent in their ignorance and they will not get the chance to grow with the rest of us.

If they are truly strong in their personal beleifs they wouldn't worry about such trivial things.

My whole family is Christian and none of us think that way.

We feel all that is good and natural is blessed.

Human love between to consenting adults is natural and therefore is a blessing.

    Peace and Blessings = )

i am all for gay rights but it does seem like some gay people are hung up on legally having it be called "marriage" when marriage is a private religious thing anyway - it's self-defeating

you've got to pick your battles and christian conservatives have too well trained on that one to give in

Christians aren't scared or paranoid about gay marriage. But since we read and believe the Bible, we know that God created man and woman to be together and be fruitful and multiply. Gays can't be fruitful and mulitply unless you consider adoption, but still. That is NOT how God created mankind. And that is why Christians do not believe in or support gay marriage. It's sick.

Though I am of Agnostic beliefs, here me out on my opinionated reasoning:

First of all, "marriage" is a religious term, derived from Christian/Catholic roots.

Christian/Catholic religion does not support gay marriage because it is considered sinful.

According to the latest (June 2009) research on sexuality, it has been repeatedly proven that sexuality is all based on choice.

In the United States, a country based on the Christian/Catholic faith, to be "married" does not include gay marriage.

Marriage is a religious term, so, therefore, gay marriage should be unlawful because of the religious derivation.

Because of all this research and study, homosexuality is wrong and should be repealed because of it's ignorant reasoning and self-disclaiming aspects.

i dont really get it either. like, two gay people being married does not affect my personal day to day life at all. so why does it even matter? if they love each other, that is good enough for me, and if they wanna get married, then more power to them

everyone is all "blah blah, sanctity of marraige" in a country where the divorce rate is already almost 50%

and no, civil unions do NOT grant the same legal rights as a marraige, that is why gay people are not satisfied with civil unions.

marraige existed before the bible did. what the bible says about who can get married is irrelivent because people were getting married before the bible.

They weren't married as are modern-day-day demands, a ceremony and somewhat bit paper. The Bible is obvious that God made Eve to compliment Adam no longer in basic terms reason he replaced into bored. So the be conscious marriage isn't there even though it relatively is implied and truly study from the context in spite of in case you at the instant are not searching for it. regrettably, in case you elect to objective and justify something you may study it out yet that is between you and God.

Maybe you should narrow down WHICH Christians you're talking about. Im a Christian and gay marriage is legalised where Im from. I couldn't give a flying monkeys about that issue.

    These questions are getting irritating.

There is a long history of same-sex marriage. It existed in every world culture until the arrival of Europeans. And Europeans themselves practiced it until about the 13th century.

There is even a record of same-sex marriage in the Hebrew text of the Old Testament.

But too many choose to deny these facts, and pretend it's not true. But failure to believe truth will never make the truth a lie.

It's pretty simple actually. As a Christian, I simply follow God's rules. None of us hate or dislike anyone in the gay community. We follow God's laws. God put the laws on our hearts. All of us. Not just Christians. We know all of His laws. God put the laws on our hearts so we wouldn't hurt ourselves or one another. He cares for us, so He says don't murder. He also says that lying with the same sex is an abomination. The emotional and psychological parameters that surround homosexuality are damaging, not to mention the promiscuity and disease that is spread. No Christian hates or dislikes homosexuals. Nor are we afraid or paranoid. We stand our ground only on God's laws, and we dislike any and all sin. Whether it's murder, rape, cheating, stealing, adultery, whatever. it's the secular society or culture that is afraid. they condemn us only for wanting to keep the laws of our God. The God who provided and blessed America because we came here and established a Christian nation. Do you want to legalize murder and rape too?

You see, when we get away from the laws of our God, and start to justify our actions, and judge ourselves by mans law, then we get right into relativism. Meaning, what's good for me isn't necessarily good for you. Relativism doesn't work. If it did, we all have to have our own country with our own laws. Take it from the creator of the universe. If he says it's bad, then it is. as the created beings on this palnet, it's high time we decided that we don't define the creator. he made us for him, and in the Bible, He told us to procreate. How is this possible with two people of the same sex. When you get right down to it, homosexuality just doesn't make sense. And people, no matter what color, race or religion should stop following their own selfish flesh and consider what is best for our world and for their God.

whose says we're scared or paranoid? Guess I can't speak for everyone else, but I'm neither. I just don't agree with it for biblical reasons.

    Right on Rista =D
