Questions about after a c section?

I had vaginal deliveries with my previous kids but this time I needed a last minute c section after him getting stuck in my pelvis and his heart rate dropping dangerously low. The whole c section thing is very foreign to me and the info I have found doesn't seem to answer my questions...

1. My baby is 2 weeks old today. Is it normal for the bleeding to stop already? With my other deliveries, I remember having bleeding that lasted for a good 4-6 weeks that went from red to brown to that weird yellowish before ending. I was bleeding red then suddenly nothing for the last 24 hours or so. Is this normal?

2. If my bleeding has stopped, then do I really need to wait 6 weeks to have sex? I always wanted to wait before cuz I was so sore down there, but this time no soreness except a little around my incision site. So do I have to wait?

3. I had the glue to close my incision and I was wondering how long until it's ok to take a bath. Anyone have the dermabond to close- how long did you wait to take a bath?

4. My belly is shrinking pretty well, but I've got this skin that folds over the incision area. How long till that goes away?

5. They said no driving for 4 weeks! Did anyone else get told that and did you really wait that long? Is there some kind of rational explanation for not driving for so long?

Sorry for all the questions, I just have no experience with this type of delivery and I don't know and the doctors just didn't explain things well.

    1. The bleeding stopping is normal. I remember being surprised I was bleeding at all since I had a planned c-section, but I only bled for a short time, and they said that was normal.

    2. I think the reason they ask you to wait to have sex is for risk of infections, and plus, having a c-section is major surgery. Even if you feel fine now having sex will most likely hurt, my incision stayed sore for a while and any strenuous activity made it much worse.

    3. Sorry this one I can't help you with. I don't remember if I took any baths or not.

    4. That flap of skin will shrink, but you will most likely have at least an indent there forever. I had my c-section 6 years ago, and I still have the indent, even after losing all the baby weight.

    5. The only reason I can think of you not driving for 4 weeks is if they gave you narcotic pain medicine to take. Other than that, I can't think of a reason you shouldn't drive.

Hope that helps! And congrats on the new baby! :)

I had a c-section with my 2 year old. It was an Emergency C-Section. Worst pain I EVER felt.

    1. I bled for 3 months after my c-section then stopped for a week & bled until she was a year old. But, I also had the IUD implanted after my 6 weeks postpartum. But, I did bleed until my 6 weeks. I would get checked by your doctor as soon as possible. I wouldn't say that was normal.

    2. I wouldn't have sex because your uterus was cut open & it's still probably swollen & VERY open. It could cause a lot of damage.

    3. I took a bath right after I got home from the hospital. I just didn't rub to hard on my incision. So, I think it would be okay for you to take a bath.

    4. It could take time or you could excerise after your 6 weeks postpartum to get rid of it.

    5. Yes, I was told that too. So, it's normal.

I had a previous c section and I am having one July 29 09. As for me I stopped bleeding like 3 weeks are you breast feeding because that can make you stop bleeding sooner. Also I waited 6 week untill I had sex because the risk of infection, I would wait at least 2 more weeks if I was you. I had the steri-strips to close my incision and I took a bath at like 4 weeks. The folds of skin will go away.. Mine went away after like 2 or 3 months after the baby. And as for driving i was driving at 2 weeks after the baby. Idk why they say that.. its not like you have a personal driver to take you every where lol.

    1. It's fine if your bleeding has already stopped.

    2. I waited 4 weeks after the c-section to have sex and all was fine.

    3. I was stitched up, so not sure about this one.

    4. My "fold of skin" flattened out after a few months.

    5. They probably said "no driving" because of the medications you were prescribed.
