"in" might be describing the TIME of the arrival...

"at" might be describing the LOCATION of the arrival..

  • Hi HM,

You have 2 other answers, that are quite good, I think.

Arrive - is the destination, basically. Where Depart - is the leaving.

Arrive IN, basically means - We are now arriving in 1 hour"...means we should get ready to land if in an airplane, or a bus, or a train.

Arrive at, basically means - We are arriving at The White House; so this would tell you to please gather your things, so you don't lose something, or trip over other people's things.

I think if you keep these to separated, you will remember them better.

In = a time frame to get there.

At = a place or location where we are going to.

I hope this helps you, with your explaination or survey. ok?

"Arrived in" usually implies a country. "I arrived in Canada in 1997."

"Arrived at" typically implies a place, like a school or a shop or a racetrack—pretty much anywhere. "I arrived at home at 7 pm" or "I arrived at my friend's house before she left."

arrive in... (how long you will arrive e.g. arrive in 15 minutes)

arrive at... (indicate a time of arrival e.g. arrive at 4.30pm)
