can i use my korean name as my official name?
hey.
i'm korean, filipino, black american and white australian all mixed together.
my english name and the name on my birth certificate is takara allen but my korean name is takara ahn [although im also called BoBae Ahn since takara and BoBae mean the same thing justin different languages && then some people also call me Kara just because its short for takara and lots of koreans call me kara because it only has two syllables like most korean names.]
But my question is .. can I use my korean name on official papers or do i have to use the name on my birth certificate. either way my first name stays the same ^^
thankyou guys =)

On legal papers, you have to use the name on your birth certificate.
But any other time, feel free to use your Korean name.
If you want, you can also get a name change by court order, too.

On any kind of legal papers, you certainly should use your legal name as it is on your birth certificate. You could cause a great deal of confusion if you do not. Your birth certificate, social security card, passport sand any I.D. forms need to all be in the same name. If signing contracts or receipts, you must use your legal name. People can call you by a "nickname" if you like, but in writing, you need to use your legal name. People have written in here who "changed' their name and began using a different form of their name, then ran into big problems when their forms of I.D. did not match their birth certificate. Unless you go to court and legally change your name, you are falsifying a document if you use a name different than the name on your birth certificate.

I think you need to use your birth certificate name for official documents (Driver's license, Passport, etc...), unless you legally modify your name to add Ahn.

yes you can use youre korean name as youre official name...
alot of people do that, whether they are in america, china, or japan....
in america, alot of koreans have american names like john, brain, david, matthew, etc...... but some just choose to use their native names, but its really and totally up to the owner of the certification...
