To everyone: Do you believe in love?

This is not a question about seeing, but about what love is. Do you atheists believe in love? Just wanted to share this in 1 John 4:7-8 which says that love is of God, and verse 8 says God is love. Doesn't that mean that you really do believe in God? I realize you will say you don't believe the bible, but don't you understand that God is the One who gave us the desire to love others and be loved ourselves? That is why nothing in life fills the void that only Jesus can fill.

Update:

LOL, here we go again!

Update 2:

The void I'm talking about is your heart, nothing else.

Update 3:

The void I'm talking about is your heart, nothing else.

Update 4:

Ok, I'll help you guys out. There are 3 kinds of love; eros, I will not explain, phileo, or brotherly love ( friendly love toward mankind ), and agape, God's love. Only God's love never fails according to 1 Corinthians 13:8 ( charity is the word for love ).

Of course I believe in love. I love my husband. I love my kids. I could even say that I love cheesecake.

Christians did not invent love. "God" does not give us the desire to love. It's an emotion that most people feel, regardless of religion.

Unconditional Love, this is the love that we must all aspire to. This is where the divine and humanity begin to see one another wholly. Indeed this is where Yeshua "stood" and claimed His Christhood and where Siddhartha Gautama "stood" and claimed His Buddha-hood. There have been many before and since who have discovered this and claimed their divinity in the Name of the Father. Only through Unconditional Love can one arrive to such a state.

God is Light, Life and Love.

Yes, I believe that an experience of a true and unconditional love is a sign of the presence of God in the life of an atheist. But the atheist might still have difficulty in relating true and self sacrificing love with God.

If god is defined as love, and nothing but love, then I will call god love, and that's that. I'll never need to use the word, or concept, of god again. If god is more than just love, then you will need to make some effort to explain and demonstrate to existence.

No, I do not "believe" in love.

I accept the existence of love because I have evidence for its existence. I do not have the same for God.

Addendum: "The void I'm talking about is your heart, nothing else."

Mine is filled with blood, sorry.

Hi, I just wanted to share this: you're violating the community guidelines by posting solicitations, and if your god condones it he's a really crappy god.

Yes. The ultimate example of God's love is the Lord Jesus Christ who said "I give you a new commandment: that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should also love one another.

If you want to relabel god as love then go right on ahead. But we already have a word for that and it is "love". Love has no personifying traits but it is an emotion, one that is not unique to humans btw.

Just because some people choose not to believe doesn't mean they aren't capable of love.

The real question is are YOU capable of love?

Can you truly love people that disagree with the very foundation of your beliefs?

    Jesus tells you to.
