Don't you hate it when people flash their highbeems when driving at night?
The problem is that some people are too stupid to realize that when a car has fog lights on, your highbeems can not be on at the same time.
On my way home from work every night I drive with fog lights on, because it is much easier to see if deer are in the road, I know my low beems are on, but every night i get the highbeems flashed at me because the oncoming drivers thinks I have highbeems on, My low beems are set at regulation level so I know they are not aimed to high, so here is a rule to follow, if you see a car coming and it has 4 lights on, two of them lower than the other 2, then that car has on its low beems and fog lights.
Fog lights are factory set so that they only come on with low beems, so all you highbeem flashers, you know longer have a reason to flash your highbeems, unless you are just plan too stupid.

That doesnt necessarily mean thats why they are doing it. A lot of people flash high beams at you to warn you of a cop they saw down the road that your heading towards.

Your attitude is the reason I wish police spent more time ticketing people who don't follow these kinds of laws and less time just sitting around waiting for speeders to pass them by. They could make just as much ticket revenue in my area from people like yourself who leave fog lights on 24/7 regardless of the presence of fog, who have misaligned headlights and fog lights blinding oncoming traffic, who fail to signal or have lights that do not work. But to get that revenue, they'd have to start actually writing tickets for it-- and unfortunately, they don't. I'd be willing to bet it would result in a lot of "corrective action" on the part of those drivers.
What others have said is exactly true. Your fog lights are blinding oncoming traffic. The fact that the manufacturer sets fog lights to only come on with low beams has nothing to do with the legality of using them when the conditions don't warrant it. They make them that way because using high beams in foggy weather will just REDUCE your visibility. As an unintended consequence, they prevent you from being a complete and total tool by running your fog lights with high beams, as I suspect you would.
Even if I can't convince you to turn off the fog lights (unless conditions require them), at least do the world a favor and get them properly aligned. Fog lights should be pointed substantially lower than your low beams.

Before you call everyone else stupid try READING THE LAW. It's ILLEGAL to drive with FOG LIGHTS ON in most areas, unless they are needed. For STANDARD DRIVING it's ILLEGAL. You are using them for STANDARD DRIVING, so sounds like YOU ARE JUST STUPID. Perhaps you need a little respect for other drivers and need to SHUT OFF THE FOG LIGHTS when cars are approaching. Man I'm glad I don't go near the roads you are on though. I mean heck I find trucks/SUVs low beams annoying because my car is set low, I could just imagine how bad it would be if I drove near you. I don't flash my high beams at people, because I just figure it's a truck or SUV and they can't help it(short of wanting them to turn off their lights). I do drive on roads where I have to worry about deer sometimes. When I'm on those roads I slow down and use my high beams when no traffic is approaching, like most drivers on the road do.

Four lights in an over/ under pattern used to be standard.
Quite often four lights seen meant high beams before fog and driving lights became popular.
Not all fog lights are factory installed, so not all meet the wiring requirements.
Driving lights are very similar, and are connected differently.
If you have fogs, chances are they are set improperly.
People flash not because of the number of lights you show, but because the lights blind oncoming traffic.

It may make it much easier to see deer, but you should not have your fog lights on unless visibility drops below 100 yards (due to fog or rain) as otherwise they are too bright and will blind oncoming drivers. Unlike headlights, which are angled towards the right hand side of the road, fog lights provide general coverage meaning that they could be blinding people driving towards you. They are not telling you to put your high-beams down, they are telling you that you are blinding them with your foglights. You should perhaps be more considerate.

No my friend, they do not believe your high beams are on, it is simply that your fog lights are probably misaligned and blinding the oncoming traffic. I am not trying to call you stupid but have someone else drive your vehicle while you approach it in a different vehicle and then you will see why.
Look before you leap. People who wear corrective lenses can easily be blinded by your fog lights at night.
Been wearing glasses for the last two years and had to figure that one out on my own.

Drivers usually flash their high beams at you for 2 reasons:
1. they are warning you of a police cruiser
2. you are blinding them
If this happens to you every night, it is probably #2, and you should realign your fog lights, before you cause an accident.

You should only have your fog lights on in a fog - otherwise they will distract other drivers and cause an accident.
