If a car has CALIFORNIA plates it means that I should be able to get a title from a californian DMV?

I bought a car a couple of months ago now im trying to sell it but I can't find the title, I know I can get it replace in the CA DMV but the car was originally from other state, so back to my question

Yes. CA was the last titled state for this car. Apply for a lost title at the CA DMV.

Providing the CA plates are really for that car, then yes. OTOH, if the plates were switched somewhere to make you think it was registered in CA, then it would be a much different story.

If I see the front I think it's someone from here (Michigan) with a California plate in front for decoration (very common for some reason) Since we don't have front plates. If it is a legit California car I think wow what a long drive
