I wonder where people got the idea that they have the right to health insurance?

I've read the Constitution, and I can't find it anywhere. I know you have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Would you also think that would give you the right to be stupid, make stupid decisions, think stupid thoughts, and PAY THE PRICE for those thoughts, and decisions? Am I wrong here? Why?

Because we give them food, housing, utilities, etc. so they automatically think they are entitled to everything else. It's getting more and more difficult to support a family these days for those of us that try to provide for our own family. My step-sister says they can't afford insurance but they have a nice big house, two large SUVs, a four wheeler, boat, etc. They just don't want to afford it, they would rather have toys. We can't afford toys because we're paying for food and health insurance for our family. The example we're setting is much better than the example she's setting though.

Also, nowhere in the Constitution does it mention the right to a fair trial, or a jury of your peers, or the right to vote (only reasons why you can’t be denied the ability to vote), the right to travel, the right to judicial review, the right to privacy, or even the right to procreate (if a state enacted a law that prohibited certain classes of people from having children, it would not be unconstitutional).

You could read the Ninth Amendment.

And that being said, we're not talking about the right to health insurance, we're talking about the right to health *care.*

It is useful to keep in mind that in modern U.S. society there are only two alternatives for a human need like health care: either it is to be considered a privilege for some (usually those who are sufficiently wealthy, and otherwise privileged), or it is a right to be respected for everyone.

The Constitution doesn't give the right to well-paved roads either, but I'll bet you've been on an Interstate once or twice. And even if you personally have not, I'll bet the goods you buy in your local shop spent some of their life on the road.

    Ninth Amendment man.

Source(s): And life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness is in the Declaration of Independence, not in the Constitution.

I think they mean a Moral and/or Ethical Right

  • 50 million uninsured is what they keep saying.

At least 20 million are illegal aliens = DO NOT DESERVE FREE INSURANCE

The rest are 18 year olds who work at subway or starbucks who doenst give health benefits and they would rather keep their paycheck than pay for health insurance beause they are young and healthy.

= THEY DID NOT WATN HEALTH INSURANCE ENOUGH TO PAY FOR IT

In reality, of people who are genuinely too poor to aford coverage, there is only maybe 6-7% of american's uninsured. And we ALREADY PAY FOR THEM under meidcare. Not sure what everyones complaint is.

they get it from liberal progressives who's last concern would be the constitution.
