Should we accept a health care plan Obama would not commit his own family to?

Dr. Orrin Devinsky, a neurologist and researcher at the New York University Langone Medical Center, said that elites often propose health care solutions that limit options for the general public, secure in the knowledge that if they or their loves ones get sick, they will be able to afford the best care available, even if it's not provided by insurance.

Devinsky asked the president pointedly if he would be willing to promise that he wouldn't seek such extraordinary help for his wife or daughters if they became sick and the public plan he's proposing limited the tests or treatment they can get.

The president refused to make such a pledge, though he allowed that if 'it's my family member, if it's my wife, if it's my children, if it's my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care.

Update:

Let me clarify- this is assuming we will have no choice but to submit to having government health care. I am just looking at what happens in other countries with universal health care. Honestly, you can't have both, if we look at how it is done else where (excluding the rich).

NO. They should extend the Congressional Health-care plan to all Americans at no cost. Get the TARP Money and money given to all multinational corporations back and pay for it. It's easy.

It is the same reason why the politicians do not participate in Medicare or Social Security but have their own plan. Since they created these system they know crap when they see it.. they might be slick but they are not stupid.

Why should he change plans if he's happy with what he has? Why would anyone? The new plan is meant to help offer affordable insurance to the uninsured and the under insured. Obama is neither.

I love that the Right whine about being forced into a new plan YET think its okay if they force Obama in a new plan. Wingnut logic...

The rich have always had better health care than the not-rich. It's simply one of the perks of wealth.

Comrade Obama is the latest in a long line of Comrades who send his spawn to private schools while forcing failing government schools on the subjects. Why should this be any different?
