I am a teacher of emotionally disturbed students and I think it is starting to rub off. I am also a problem solver- when friends cry on my shoulder I can't just comfort , I have to try to solve their problem. Yahoo answers is totally addicting because of this personality quirk.

  • How would you say "home again" in Japanese?

I'm looking for the pronunciation, not the Japanese characters.

  • Need The Name of a Town with Cliffs?

Hi, I hope I'm in the right area to have this answered. My agent is shopping my young adult manuscript to the major publishing houses at this moment. She's selling the idea as a series. I'm working on book two, which has my main characters traveling to England from the US for some English haunting action.

What I need is a town/village near large cliffs. I can make a village up, but I still need to research the area so I can get a general feel for the place. It has to be rural, yet about an hour away from London. I'm half-way through the manuscript and still haven't found the right area, despite researching like mad. I was looking at Worthing, but I don't know if there are any cliffs.

  • Build Dream Home or Wait?

We have land in a nice custom home community. Should we build and take advantage of the great low rates we may never see again or wait until the economy freakiness dies down? Our house will be paid off this year so we could start saving even more money towards the new house if we wait. As it is we could put down 40-50% down (after the sale of our present house). But the economy has us really worried. We are teachers so we feel like our jobs are fairly safe. But then again...

  • Should we accept a health care plan Obama would not commit his own family to?

Dr. Orrin Devinsky, a neurologist and researcher at the New York University Langone Medical Center, said that elites often propose health care solutions that limit options for the general public, secure in the knowledge that if they or their loves ones get sick, they will be able to afford the best care available, even if it's not provided by insurance.

Devinsky asked the president pointedly if he would be willing to promise that he wouldn't seek such extraordinary help for his wife or daughters if they became sick and the public plan he's proposing limited the tests or treatment they can get.

The president refused to make such a pledge, though he allowed that if 'it's my family member, if it's my wife, if it's my children, if it's my grandmother, I always want them to get the very best care.

  • Anyone know what the DSM IV classification: Axis I- 313.9 means?

Is this part of the Autism Spectrum disorder or just a Developmental Delay? My daughter's school does not seem to find this classification to have any bearing on her educational plan. I disagree and am contacting her neurophysch. for further clarification. But I am looking for more info. until he gets back with me.

  • PDA or Smartphone w/ word processing capabilities ?

I don't know much about PDAs or smartphones so I'm not really sure where to start looking. What I want is something that has the capability to do word processing. Any other features are secondary. I already have a laptop and that is just too bulky to drag around with me. I had a cute little pocket PC- which I loved- called a Jornada 720, but it is on the fritz, outdated and has no support since it is discontinued. Any thoughts?

  • How can I be sure euthanasia worked?

I had to put our 15 year-old dog down today and we buried her ourselves. Now I wonder if I should have doubled checked to make sure she was actually dead, but I could not bring myself to open up the shroud I had made her. I have an irrational fear of being buried alive and the thought of doing it to one of my pets makes me shudder.

The vet is a good old country vet who has owned the hospital for 17 years. I stayed with her the entire time and the vet checked for a heartbeat by holding his hand to her chest for about a minute, touched her eyeball and felt for breathing. He is very well know around town, so I know the clinic is a good one. Still I read about a dog who survived euthanasia and lived for 4 days in a freezer (poor baby). This had happened several times in a matter of a few months at that shelter. Bad shelter director. So now I wonder. Any thoughts? I hate dealing with all of this- period.

  • Anyone tried Nuheart- really reasonable heartworm meds?

I have been using their heart worm medications for a year for my dorses (dog/horses) and I always wonder why no one ever mentions Nuheart as a good heart worm medication alternative to the expensive meds like Heartgard. Maybe because they are located in Australia.

Either way I am able to get one year heartworm meds for two 70 lb. dogs for $37 (American). That includes shipping. That comes out to $1.54 a month per huge dog. Fabulous! Anyone else using Nuheart?

  • Gentlest way to allow abscess on tiny kitten to drain?

I am fostering tiny newborn kitten for a friend who found a litter of four. He is half the size of the others (he is 4 oz.) and about 18 days old. I decided to take him in when the others started suckling on him and he ended up with some abscesses. The local Animal Welfare League vet drained the abscesses and gave me some antibiotics, but one keeps filling with pus and I have to hold a warm cloth to it and to draw it out. I hate putting him through the trauma, so I was wondering if anyone else has had experience with this kind of the thing.

I am happy to say he has doubled his formula intake and although the AWL vet did not have high hopes of him making it, he is now gaining weight and crawling around. He is very sweet and I want to make things as easy for him as possible.

  • Are there any foods that cannot be taken into a Mexican port town from the US?

I am having a discussion on another forum and some people are under the impression that I could get a $10,000 fine for bringing a bag of chips or a bagal off a cruise ship into Cozumel. I have looked everywhere and only found restrictions on bringing fruits, vegetables and meats BACK into the US. Anyone know the skinny on this?

  • Should my daughter have oxygen therapy for 75-77% oxygen sats?

My daughter has severe congenital heart defects. After 4 heart surgeries and more then 10 cardiac caths. in the last 15 years (she is 15) her oxygen sats. are at 75-77% on room air, when she is not sitting still. We are waiting for these things called arterial venous malformations to correct themselves, which could take up to a year, until they worry further about her oxygen sats. Should I have her on oxygen when she is doing chores or even going to the park with us for a walk? The cardiologist doesn't seem to be concerned, but it is also not HIS daughter. She is at about 90-95% when she is on 2 liters. Her fingers have also been clubbing (not going out to party, instead they start to look like the ends of a frog toes or like a club) when her sats. went down to 85% ambient air. Their argument is that is peripheral cyanosis and not central.
