i went in for my 36wk check-up and my doc did a sonogram and said that i had alot of calcium build up in my placenta and that he was going to induce me in a week..

Does labor go faster when they induce you?

does it hurt worse?

is there any difference in the real thing?

    Mine was easier!

They say pitocin can cause stronger contractions. But, I didn`t have that problem at all. And, nurses are aware this can happen so they will monitor you. My son was such a fast easy birth...he literally just fell out - no pushing required. Okay, like two pushes and his head was out. And, because he was a week early it was small and no pain there either :))

You`ll be fine! Congrats, you`ll see your babe in a week!! It`s the most awesome thing ever!!

Source(s): Should say my first was natural. In the sense I went into labor on my own on my due date. Was 40 weeks and it was horrible. I had a 3rd degree tear...

I have had six children, two times being induced.I got to the hospital, was well rested and excited. They started the patosin and put something inside me to help soften the cervix and to help me dilate. Not too long passed before contractions started at 5 centimeters they broke my water with what looked like something you knit with. After my water was broken the contractions got worse. They gave me some meds for pain. From start to finish was a matter of hours.Started at 8:30am and I had my son 2:36pm.I wish I could have been induced with all of them.Much better experience than when I went into labor and was in labor for hours and hours. Then by the time I had to push I was so tired and after didn't have the energy to be up with my baby.So yes I feel inducing is much better.Do not worry,You will be fine and its easier too.Good luck with your baby.

  • I never actually got the labor part, but the tiny contractions I did have hurt like hell! I heard and read that being induced makes labor more painful, and in alot of cases longer.

My baby didn't react well to the cervidel stuff and the pitocen so she flipped breech and I ended up having a emergency csection. Chances of having to have a csection are increased with inductions.

It was the WORST experience of my life, and because of that I don't get to experience a natural brith with this baby that im pregnant with.

My docter was going to induce me the day that i turned 40 weeks because i was gaining far too much weight. normal i'm a normal size but after i got pregnant i gained over 50 pounds. sexy huh? lol but i went into labor a few days before. lol i guess my lil girl just didn't want to wait.

when you get induced it is supposed to be a bit more painful , so get that epidural.

and i'm not sure exactly but when i did go into labor it stopped halfway through so they gave me something to amp it up a bit and make it go faster , so they may do that to you too?

well good luck and congrats. (:
