Christians, if your loved ones were atheist or another faith, and you won't see them in heaven...?

If you will be in heaven, knowing the ones you love are in hell, is that really heaven? Could you really be happy like that, and not feel eternal pain and empathy for the ones you love?

Update:

Kalin, you failed to understand the question.

What if your parents, brothers or sisters, or children were not Christian? Many people are in this situation.

Update 2:

nickgalant, you're preachin to the choir, man. This q is just for Christians to see how they think. But with the low volume of responces, I see I'm going to have to ask again later.

Update 3:

If you will feel no sorrow for the ones you love in this life, despite their eternal torment, how is that really love?

...we are told that there may be no rememberance of our time here on earth after we die and go to heaven. Kind of like a do-over or a re-boot if you will.

We won't even know that we don't even know that there was something we should have known from this life:

    Matthew 22:

25Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

26Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

27And last of all the woman died also.

28Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

29Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

First of all there is absolutely no evidence that any deity ever existed anywhere. The bible was written by men to control other men plain and simple. This is the twenty first century and humanity has to pull itself together and resist believing in religious mythology of all kinds and start creating a world based on science to benefit all of us. Planet Earth is beautiful as it is and we should stop wasting our human energy by praying to invisible gods and killing each other over different religious points of view. Every time we hear someone talking about gods, heaven, hell or how humanity must be saved from eternal damnation because some woman named Eve was talking to a serpent regarding apples and he convinced her to take a bite is shear nonsense. If there really was an omnipotent deity and it wanted humanity to understand what was wished it would not need to go through third party preachers, bible codes and multiple religions to get the point across. So let's get real, put a damper on all this imaginary religious mysticism and start enjoying the beautiful universe and wonderful life we already have right here on earth.

Hmm. This is difficult for me to approach.

According to my belief, I wouldn't feel sorrow or sadness for my wife if she was to be in hell.

While I never confronted her about how our religious beliefs don't match, and if it is true that mine were correct, and hers were wrong (resulting in Hell), then I think it would be her fault and not mine that she did not believe in God or the right religion.

I would feel sorry for her on Earth if she was to die before I did, but I imagine once I die and go to Heaven, that there wouldn't be any regret or sorrow ect. for her. But, that aside, I hope of marrying a woman who shares my religious beliefs. If I fall in love with a woman who does not, so be it.

"Could you really be happy like that, and not feel eternal pain and empathy for the ones you love?"

Yes. I would "be happy like that". They had their chance, just like everyone else. Their choices led them to hell. Lord knows that I wouldn't want them to end up in hell (and that I would've tried to witness to them), but I'm not in control of their lives, they are. And for their own bad choices, they must pay the consequences. No excuses. It's their own fault.

It would be in God's hands, not mine, so there's no point in obsessing with things that are out of your control.

It is painful to think about.... but in heaven we won't have sorrow or pain, but a life unlike this one...

We want all people to have that... that is why we share what we do. But no, we won't suffer with the loss in heaven.

thats why we spread God's word. most atheists say, just leave us alone, but the reason we dont want to stop telling them about God is because we want them to go to heaven. however, we have told them about God, they've heard about Him. we warned them, God warned them, we gave them proof, they made their choice. and it was the wrong one. yes, it will be sad, but God warned everyone about this happening. He also said, that everyone is your family, your brothers and sisters, not just the family you were born to. so its going to be sad, but God comes first, and we must all put our worries in God's hands in order for everything to be ok.

for god sent not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved.

and hell gave up the dead.
