Open question to Americans?
I am not an American, but I know the answer to this, and I'm curious as to how many Americans know. When was the national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, written, who wrote it, and what country was the USA at war with when it was written?

We were fighting the War of 1812 against the British.
1814 The commander of Ft McHenry flew the new flag over the fort to signal our victory against the British at the battle of Baltimore (MD)
1814 Francis Scott Key was so impressed by the flag, he wrote the Star Spangled Banner as our national anthem.
By the way it is very difficult for the average person to sing. Regretfully most people probably don't even know all the words.
I appreciate the fact that you are aware of our history!!

Fancis Scott Key wrote it.
It was written in 1814
During the war of 1812 in which we were fighting the British
Also, the actual tune was based off of a British drinking song. Key just wrote the words.
