Why do I deserve to go to hell?

I love my girlfriend and am faithful to her. I help my friends whenever I can. Often I'll buy food for hungry people on the streets here in Vietnam. I love animals and nature, and am awed by the majesty of this life.

Yet my logical brain won't let me accept Jesus as my lord without evidence. Why do I deserve to go to hell?

Update:

Jeremysc: That does not explain why I deserve it.

You don't. It's their problem, not yours.

Well, in a logical sense, you've done very good things in your life. But, my by religious stance, you haven't done enough. But, we've been through this already, :-)

No need to justify your actions. If you don't believe in Jesus being the worldwide Messiah, then that's perfectly fine! Just think/believe anything you want, as long as it helps you sleep at night. I know you are a great person who has a great heart for doing the good things you do.

You do not deserve to go to hell. Only accepting Jesus as your Lord, it not enough to guarantee a place in heaven. God blesses those who come to the aid of the poor and rebukes those who turn away from them. It is by what they have done for the poor that Jesus Christ will recognise his chosen ones. You will be judged on the good you have done in your life.

It has nothing to do with justice. God just decided he hates his own creation because it did not turn out the way he apparently wanted, so, logically, who does he blame?

No, not himself! Us! Personally, I find that rather odd. They say the clay does not question the potter, but by the same token the potter does not blame the clay if he makes an ugly pot.

You don't deserve to go to Hell.

Only those who, through deliberate rejection of God, and the message of Jesus, by their own free will, choose to separate themselves from God for eternity.

If you can genuinely not accept Jesus, and you have tried very hard to listen to the message, study the evidence, and have prayed for faith, then you must live a good life without Jesus. If you find that you can accept the message of Jesus, then you must do so immediately.

Meanwhile, you must live a Godly life, trying hard not to offend God by sin.

Only God can, and will, judge you after death. He judges according to your genuine intentions and actions.

Um, because you're too awesome and God is jealous of how you can live such a decent life, while he gets stuck bullying by murdering entire planets and killing all of Job's children.

Just keep on being cool, Zero, and we can all hang out in Hell together, with people like Einstein, Sagan, and Hawkings, among others.

  • You don't deserve to go to hell. There's nothing wrong with you because there's no such thing as wrong. Or maybe, an absolute wrong. There is only relative wrong. God wrong. Christian wrong. Go to hell wrong. If you're an atheist, nothing is wrong.

But why try and work your way to heaven? If God is perfect, then he only allows perfection. And the only way to achieve this is asking for forgiveness of the sins we do everyday. And there is evidence.

Flavius Josephus (A.D. 37-100) wrote a monumental history, Antiquities of the Jews, in which he referred to Jesus twice. In section 18.3.3 he called Jesus "the Christ" and wrote of His "marvelous deeds." In section 20.9.1 he referred to the trial of James and identified him as the "the brother of Jesus, the so-called Christ." Cornelius Tacitus was a Roman historian who, in his Annals (XV.44, c. A.D. 115), wrote of "Christus" (from Christos, Greek for "Christ") who "was executed at the hands of the procurator Pontius Pilate in the reign of Tiberius." The Dead Sea Scrolls, which was written by Jewish men, also mention a "wicked priest". This could also identified as Jesus, since the Jews hated Jesus.

  • Your very mouth speaks of the evidence of the creation of which Jesus Christ is the Creator.

You speak of your love for your girlfriend, nature and animals and further reinforce this by stating that you are "awed by the majesty of this life"

Yet you neglect and refuse to give credit where credit is due.

The Bible states of Jesus Christ that by Him and for Him all things were made.

Who or what do you say brought the earth and everything in it into existence?

If you believe that it is someone or something other than the God of the Bible, then you are as good as stating that God has lied.

God has declared that no man is good - in fact God tells us that from the get go, man will even deny where creation came from and degenerate from there.

No human being deserves heaven - not a single one of us - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

You call the creation of God "majestic" but will not recognize Him as such.

It is commendable that you want to help and reach out to others.

Please bear in mind that this is what Jesus Christ has done.

He told us that without repentance for sin and a new birth by the Spirit of Almighty God - that no man will ever see heaven.

He told us of the peril of hell - you have heard of it - and in Himself provides the very way of escape through His great love for the human race which He has created.

He has bore the sin of mankind on His own shoulders - and each man may receive salvation if they will but repent of sin and step out towards Jesus in faith.

This statement that you made in another question in the link below, is errorenous and is put forth as fact by you; when in actual in fact you presume to know what the Christian knows all the while you do not know Christ - because you refuse to.

In that question you call the Christian such as myself the liar - yet you will not acknowledge that you reject God, mock His people that He redeemed AND STILL think you deserve heaven - all based on YOUR standard - and not His.

The Christian sees the evidence in creation, which must I remind you?.....you reject.

Furthermore, the Christian has met the Person of Jesus Christ at the time of their regeneration and is indwelt by God the Holy Spirit.

It is for the best that you do not attempt to speak of my daily experience with any certainty until you have made it your own.

"Christians rely on faith, but in embracing faith they at least admit that there is no objective evidence"

    Then you boldly say

    "Which is worse?

Taking religion on faith, or lying to yourself that its rationally proved fact?"

I truly hope you reconsider what you currently believe; read the gospels in the Bible and ponder these things in your heart.

Seeing as how Hell, and Heaven's existence are both questionable, i'd say you stop looking for evidence and live your life.

There is no hell and if there is and you go just because you don't accept Jesus, then in my mind Jesus is an ***
