oh lawdy, false positive?
So, I know false positives are rare, but what if it already had a faint 'positive line' *before* it was even taken & it was left in a hot car? I say the chances are very possible it's false, but my friend is freaking out. She's testing again tomorrow she says, but for her sake, what's your opinion? Please, I'm getting a headache from her :(

If it already had an answer before she took the test I'd say it was a dud. Retest just to be sure but don't stress over it! It sure as heck wasn't going to be negative if there was already the line for a positive before it was used.
And for the record, false posiitves are not as rare as everyone here seems to think.

False positives are very rare HPT only pick up the pregnancy hormone that is detected in the urine. She is most likely pregnant. Heat has nothing to do with making a test go positive. IF she read it within the first 10 minutes of taking it and it was pos its 99% accurate. Tell her to buy a digital one and retake tomorrow.

Your friend shouldn't be storing a pregnancy test in a hot car... it even says that right on the damn box
