I am terrified to sing in front of a crowd, how to calm down?

Its my friends bacholerette party and we are going to a karaoke bar and my friend expects me to sing because she wants to hear my voice. Now, i sound awesome in the car singing with the music, but when it comes to karaoke, its like i can't carry a tune to save my life. I can sing with the music and with other people, but I am also terrified of being up there alone. How do I get into that state of mind so I can sing a song by myself? (I realize that most people get buzzed and sing, which might work. But I have such a fear of standing up in front of people, that the buzz might make me vomit.) What should I do?

    Stage Fright

    To eliminate stage fright:

Practice performing at home by yourself. Only think about the performance. Where the music is going, what you are trying to do to make it great. Think about how your voice sounds. Think about what the words mean.

If you think about these things, focusing on the performance you have no reason for stage fright. You are not thinking about the audience. You must learn to do this in practice and performance.
