Should there be a law against reporting fraud on other citizens?
I think a normal citizen who's not well versed on various disabilities, conditions should not be allowed to report fraud on someone who's on SSI or SSDI. People make assumptions based on what they see and hear. Not all disabilities are visible. If anyone is to report it, I think an expert or professional should.
I just know some people are overzealous about it and think they have the right to say "yes" or "no" to somebody even when they know the person's problems or don't know the extent of it.
JUSTMEINTHISHWORLD, PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE ME REALIZE THERE SHOULDN'T BE LAWS LIKE THIS. JUST KEEP APPLYING TO SSDI, GET YOURSELF A LAWYER AND DOCTORS TO APPROVE YOU FOR IT. MAYBE THEN YOU'LL FINALLY GET WHAT YOU WANT AND STOP BITCHING ABOUT OTHERS THAT GET IT.

No, anybody should be able to report fraud and I will tell you why. A neighbor was getting welfare. She was reported to the authorities. At first they said the same things you mentioned, that things aren't always visible, and that she most likely did qualify for the aid. 30,000 US dollars later, they found out that this woman had bought a house, two cars, a hot tub, a speed boat, 2 jet skis and had gone on 2 Mediterranean cruises with other monies she had! When she finally got sentenced to prison, she got 8 months.
Please don't tie the hands of the 'watchdogs' of society, the general public. We know what we are doing.

SSI and SSDI are entitlement programs that would not exist save for the hard work of U.S. citizens. I can think of a handful of folks who are "disabled" in my home town whose only disability is their lack of a work ethic. The burden of proof is on the recipient and I don't see too many bureaucrats going out into the community and policing these programs. Fraud robs money from deserving recipients and tax payers. It should not be tolerated. By your rationale, child abuse and neglect should only be reported by CPS workers or DHHR employees. How can you make a law against reporting fraud? You are taking the 'normal' citizens' money; monitoring should occur beyond so called experts and professionals (like doctors and mental health workers who enable bums to get on these programs).
Addendum: Most programs/processes that involve the govt. do have mechanisms set up to deal with nuisance reporters... those that have an ax to grind, are habitual and baseless. However, these are RARELY enforced (... can't think of one example). Do some research and I'm sure you can find what SSA has set up to deal with this. There are people in that agency who get paid to answer such questions. Make 'em do their job.

So that it will be enough for frauds to beware of professionals and avoid them as possible and then they can keep cheating the system forever without facing any consequences for it?
That sounds like a system designed to help frauds get away with the crime. So no, I don't think it would be a good idea to have a law like that. Normal citizens should be allowed to report fraud too. Then professionals should take over and look into each case to reveal the truth.

No. I think normal citizens should be allowed to report suspected fraud. Then it is up to professionals to investigate and find out if there is actual fraud going on.
Of course normal citizens sometimes make ignorant assumptions, but in such cases the professionals should be able to see through it and find out the truth. If only professionals were allowed to report suspected fraud then there would be much more frauds out there that would go unreported, because professionals can't be everywhere checking up on things. Sometimes normal citizens are in a better position to notice fraud, such as when a family member, friend or a neighbour is doing it. Sometimes they even admit it or brag about it, in which case there is no doubt about it.
People should be careful about judging others without knowing enough about the person's situation, but they should still be allowed to report fraud when they strongly suspect that something strange is going on.

unfortunately, there are some people who claim to be disabled and defraud people and the government for money. Because of this, no citizen can say with absolute certainty which people are truly disable and which are not. It is true that some people make assumptions based on what they see and hear, but unless it is reported, the fake people will getaway with taking money from people and the government. It's not fair, but it is necessary to show that you can get in serious trouble if you are defrauding someone or the government.

If no law exist, then people can get away with SSI benefits when he/she doesn't need it. I hate it when I see non-disabled people who are getting SSI money instead of getting a job. I mean, why con the government? Some people should just leave the money alone so that people who are truly disabled can get the money.

NO! There should NOT be a law against reporting fraud on other citizens!
The Social Security Administration (SSA) encourages EVERYBODY (Non-PWD and PWD) to report fraud, waste, and abuse when it is suspected or even known as a fact.

NO way! Fraud needs to be eliminated and if there are laws against reporting it that will reduce eliminating it.
