It's remarkable how conservatives can stay on message, while a liberals' opinion shifts with the wind.

Of course the DOW will recover. There was never a doubt from most of us that it wouldn't. What we have to worry about now is double digit interest rates, from the trillions in debt we are in. And the dollar sinking on the world market from an extra four trillion sitting in the treasury. If we are truly on the back end of the previous administrations recession, then we are about to fall into a worse recession caused by this administration.

But don't take my white supremacist neo-con word for it. Don't believe your shepherd on the TV either. Educate yourself:

I have many more complaints about Obama than the stock market. I know it goes up and down. But his radical changes to our government are frightening.

I am happy, and puzzled, that the stock market is picking up; but I am more concerned with the people who keep losing their jobs.

I am not blaming Obama for that either. But it concerns me greatly. I hope we start seeing signs of recovery before people become desperate. When the reports come out that our GNP didn't fall as short as predicted is a sign of recovery, it doesn't feel me with hope.

Retirees dependent on income from the 401Ks will get some relief though.

The morons who keep saying "the market was 14,000 under Bush": well what was it when he left office? They're not mentioning that, are they? The truth is that even though Obama has presided over a 25% loss in market value, he has also presided in a 40% INCREASE in market value. We have had some stunning results, and only the Republicans would try to cast that in a negative light. Incredible, but they are the only ones dumb enough to think that's a bad thing.

The stock market could have done this for several reasons, maybe exporting more goods? You cannot say that the stimulus is working because of one month, 3 months and we are on a streak and yes then something is working. Don't get your hopes up yet, wait and see what happens.

I say that Liberals still have trouble understanding percentages... OK so the DOW went up what, 10% in July.. OK 10% of 1000 is.... 100... so If the dow was at 8000 at the beginning of July, at the end of July it would be at 8800... With me so far? I know that Liberals have trouble with percentages because they said Bush's tax cuts went to the "rich" even though he cut taxes across all brackets equally.... A large percentage of a small amount is still a small amount...

well Obama has NOTHING to do with the "mkt" . And like what was pointed out look at unemployment. That is one reason the companies are posting high earnings.

  • 1 decade ago

The market should be at an all time high when the national unemployment rate goes double digit !!!!!

we say the same thing we did months ago unemployment is going higher houses are being lost what the heck is the stock market doing for all the ones who have no job.

  • 1 decade ago

So, the market is up - why? Because companies have better than expected earnings - why? Because of all the layoffs they have been doing.

Check out the unemployment rates and keep celebrating the big O.

I say what I always say, which is: it is stupid to believe that a politician has anything to do with the performance of the stock market.
