How Much Should I Sell This Mother Board/ Computer For?
I have a computer that Ii am thinking about selling to a friend. He says he will only pay me 50 for it but the real question I would like to know is how much I should sell it for.
Here are some of the basic stats:
Mother Board: Asus A8R32-MPV Deluxe
Processor: AMD Athlon 64
Memory: 516MB but you can install 3 more cards
Hard Drive: 80GB Maxtor
Power Supply: 500 Watt Antec Smart Power
CD drive: 48x no tested DVD Compatibility
There are also numerous USB ports, one fire wire port, HD video port, two internet ports and HD audio.
Any help that could lead me to a reasonable price would be great.
Thank You.

alright lets start at the beginning...
1. Your motherboard is relatively useless these days. It uses DDR ram when DDR2 and DDR3 is standard. Probably also doesnt support newer CPUs so sell that for whatever you can get
2. You're processor is a single core. At this point dual core is almost outdated, quad-core being standard. (i.e Your tower has one main computer most come with 2-4) So we'll call that dead.
3. Nobody uses DDR memory anymore as i said so not much here either.
4. You may be able to scrap a few bucks from this. THough it is an older hard drive and may not run as fast as today's standard, it still holds data so you could get maybe $20 for it.
5. This is probably the only thing in your build worth any money. Power supplies are expensive so for this you could probably get anywhere from $30-40.
6. No DVD? No deal. Standard CD Roms are rarely seen anymore as almost all programs come standard on a DVD.
7. The case it comes in might be worth money to some but that's kind of a stretch, as most builders are looking for a roomy case and Manufacturer cases rarely are.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but $50 actually is a fair price. Computer technology grows so fast that typically a computers vaule is decreased about 40% annually. It's a shame, I know but these are the facts. Sorry I couldn't help you more but there are your numbers.
