Or you could just completly Format (delete) everything of ur hard drive with out using the cds shes talking about, and then just put windows Operating system back on. If u still have your windows xp or windows vista disk, or what ever it is that u use.

Press the letter r key at the first screen when booting-up. Follow instructions, carefully.

This only works if you have a 'D' drive with a recovery program. Other than that, if you don't have the disks for your machine. Try to borrow a copy of Windows XP-Home addition or PRO edition, which ever your system is running. Then boot from the CD-Rom and follow instructions. You will have to use their Key-Code, but after instillation, you will need your code off the side of your machine, to re-register with Microsoft.

Insert your Windows CD. From the options menu, select to delete Windows Partition.

Then, make a new Windows Partition.

    Then, Reinstall.

Make sure you have any driver disks that came with the computer available.

If you want your computer back to factory default then you will have to do a low level format or a killdisk. Then you will have to create paritions again and reinstall windows. However if you do not know much about computers i do not reccomdend you doing a lowlevel format or kill disk. Just format and reinstall windows.

    temporarily or permanently?

whenever you have a new computer, immediately set a restore point. then, when you want to go back, have it restore to that point. using restore points, you can shift back and forth whenever you want.

if you want to permanently restart, it's easy to reformat your harddrive and re-install the OS. However, if you are using XP and have a SATA drive, it's much harder.

its called reformat or wipe out. but that can be done with the cds that came with your computer.
