Good (fairly inexpensive) restaurant in Disney?

My boyfriend and I are going to Disney World in September with my family (mom, step-dad, and 2 brothers). My boyfriend and I are paying our own airfare, park tickets, and other expenses, but my mom's paying for the hotel. I want to treat all of us to a nice dinner or show to thank her. Any suggestions?

I was going to purchase Cirque De Soleil tickets for all of us, but it's closed when we'll be there!

We just returned from our 13th visit to WDW. Our favorite places to eat that would be nice for your family are: Boma's (Animal Kingdom Lodge), O'Hana (Polynesian Resort-you can see MK Wishes fireworks from there), Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom), California Grill (Contemporary-you can see fireworks here too-check schedule), Sanaa (Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge-you can see animals while you're dining) & Cape May Cafe (Beach Club-great buffet!). If you're looking for great ribs & a funny experience; try the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. The Hoop-Dee Doo Musical Review can be fun too if you get a good seat. It's a dinner show at the Campsite of the Wilderness Lodge. When we went we had seats upstairs with our backs to the stage, so it was hard to eat & watch. Disney's Spirit of Aloha Show (Polynesian Resort) is nice too.EPCOT also has restaurants around the World Showcase. We've enjoyed dining at the Rose & Crown (UK), Le Cellier Steakhouse (Canada), Les Chefs de France (France), Restaurant Marrakesh (Moracco), & San Angel Inn (Mexico-this is lovely with the Mexican scene & the boat ride goes by while dining). The Coral Reef (EPCOT-you can see marine life swim by while you're dining) is fabulous, but is pricey. The Rainforest Cafe (Animal Kingdom or Downtown Disney) is fun too. Just keep in mind that if you are using Disney transportation & dining at a resort you have to take a bus to the Transportation & Ticket Center & transfer to a bus to take you to that resort. You need to allow extra time. It's very thoughtful that you are doing this. Check the Disney website for information about these dinners. You'll know best what your family would like. Make reservations ASAP, since these places fill up fast. Have fun!

Both of the other suggestions are great but you asked for fairly inexpensive. I would suggest Bomas' at the Animal kingdom Lodge. It will cost you 28 $ a person, it's a buffet so it's all you can eat. it's wonderful food with lots of choices and before or after you eat, head out to the back and check out all the wildlife that roams around free. Make sure it's not dark.

How about a character breakfast ? Minnie, Goofy and Donald have a breakfast buffet at the Beach Club Resort. It's fun if you're into the characters and it's only 18.99$ a person. The choices are great and you won't have to eat for the rest of the day.

Ohanas at the Polynesian Hotel offers a family style meal for 30.99 $ a person. It's an all you can eat meal but they bring it to you. it's Hawaiian food and if you go a little later, around 8-8:30, you can see the Magic Kingdoms' fireworks.

Whatever you decide, book it now ! These places book fast.

My vote is for Boma-Flavors of Africa at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is my favorite restaurant on all of WDW property and boasts some of the best food anywhere! The restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat buffet of menu items from Africa and other Pacific Rim Countries. So if you love to try new things, this is the place! They also have American food for picky eaters, so everyone will enjoy it. My favorite dishes include fu-fu (tastes like pumpkin pie), their seafood gumbo, grilled meats, avocado and grapefruit salad, sun-dried tomato hummus and flat bread station, and most importantly, their desserts. Be sure to try the zebra domes and the chocolate mousse! Enjoy!

below site has all disney restaurant listed, their menus and prices.

any sit down diner at disney is going to run you at least $30 per person.

there are great free shows inside disney. do a Fantasmic package- eat at Mama Melrose and do the show. It doesn't cost any extra (you pay for the meal only) and you get reserved seating section. It is in Hollywood Studios. Sit near the front, It is an excellent show.

California Grill- Go at 8pm and do it on a day when the Magic Kingdom firework show called Wishes is going off at 9 pm.

Le Cellier in Epcot, great food.

I would suggest Spirit of Aloha at Polynesian Resort. It will cost around $60 per person, get the best category, it is just a few $$ more but you will get best seats. Nice Hawaiian style show, nice all you can eat family style. They will bring you salad + bread, then Hawaiian style rice with BQ ribs and Fried Chicken, then nice desert. Wine or beer is included. You can order special drink if you want for additional cost.

They will take a picture of you before the show, it is a nice memory.

After show you can hang out on Poly;s beach and watch water parade.
