Does anyone see the irony in Christian conservatives and their criticism of liberal values?
All I hear about is how Obama is creating a welfare state and playing Robin Hood to help the poor and minorities, and of course this is criticism. But this criticism usually comes from conservatives. And the majority of conservatives are Christians.
Jesus encouraged the young rich man to sell his possessions to feed the poor. He wanted people to shelter the homeless and clothe the naked. Blessed be the poor, for theirs is the kingdom of God.
These ideologies don't match up.
Conservatives: No handouts
Christians: Hand that **** out like there's no tomorrow
Anyone see the irony? Stay consistent w/ your beliefs people. I mean really!
oh so Jesus preached voluntary donation to the poor? I guess I missed that in the Bible.
You're bitching that the government gives your money to the poor only because you want to give them less. That's the main issue.
I'm not a Democrat or a Republican. I'm not a liberal or conservative. And I'm agnostic.
I never said you had to be a Christian to be a conservative or vise versa. I said the majority of conservatives are Christian.
You don't want your government to help the poor. YOU want to do it. Yet, you're FAILING. Without government assistance, people would die of starvation.
So if you feel the government should stop taking your money and giving it to these people, please step your game up.
"Jesus: No GOVERNMENT handouts."
what page was that on? i must have missed it

10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

This diatribe and twisted thinking brings up a phrase I rather like:
Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, give him a fishing pole.....
What ever happened to the days when health care was a goal to be reached when you're working? I remember back in the 80's when I was working, I worked my butt off because I knew if I worked hard enough, I would be given the option to get healthcare (as well as other benefits). Now people just want to be given things because they feel that they are entitled to it? What happened to hard work?
Before the government got its grubby mitts into anything, the people in cities and towns were taken care of by their church and neighbors in time of need. Now the government has weaseled its way in and promised people it can take care of them.
Ask yourself, what has the government ever run correctly? In a nutshell, 2 things: the IRS and the military. They do not MAKE goods and services to contribute to society, they take from every working person who HAS worked to contribute.
Don't wrap up Christianity with your twisted views. Charity is for the good of heart, being forced to give when you don't have much to give is wrong.

Why can't you every pay attention to what we say?
You said "Conservatives: No handouts", this is just plain wrong. Please pay attention to the folowing so you will get it right in the future.
Conservatives: No GOVERNMENT handouts.
Conservatives: Yes INDIVIDUAL handouts.
Jesus: No GOVERNMENT handouts.
Jesus: Yes INDIVIDUAL handouts.
See how they line up exactly? Clearly, you have never read the Bible, and clearly you never listen to what conservatives actually say. And you wonder why we call you liberals grossly ignorant and misinformed?
Jesus said to give the poor the shirt of YOUR back. Jesus said if you are rich then give all YOUR money away. He never, not once, told anybody to take anything from their neighbor.

Yes, because they are wimps for they know that Conservative Christians won't hunt them down or kill them. Why else would they wander in and make a mockery of church services? They are jealous too because it was pointed out to them that Conservative Christians give more of their own time and money to help the poor than do liberals. If someone was to make the same kind of attacks on let say Muslims you be they be outraged.

The Christian Children's Fund gives to some of the poorest countries of the world and to the poor in the United States.

The problem is you don't even understand what you are trying to say...what Jesus was telling the man to do was voluntary...what Obama and the Axis of Idiots are doing is make it mandatory for the people who work for their money to pay for those who don't...if you do not see the difference, you are lacking the basic intelligence to hold a civil debate...so would you agree that Liberals are hypocrites since they support idiotic protesters like for Palestine, or Code Pink, and Envonazis...but consider it wrong to protest Obama and the Axis of Idiots?

My Christianity has to do with my faith in God not the proposed health care bill.
The bill provides funding with my tax dollars to abortion-which I do not support. (go ahead and use the argument "well I didn't support the war" I've heard it a million times). So what do you think about what's happening in Afghanistan are you calling Obama a murderer like you are Bush?
I am opposed to the government controlling my health care and my life-plain and simple.
I am happy to help others as much as I can-I should not be forced by the government to help those who REFUSE to help themselves.

Your liberal retarded logic is undeniable. So I should sell everything I own and feed the poor, then become poor myself, and hope someone does the same for me. After about ten years of that, who would be left to sell their possessions to feed us all. A true christian gives to the poor, willingly, not at gun point.

So does that mean you are a Christian who views the Bible in such a way that commands Caesar to take from the rich and give to the poor? If so, then I guess you are legislating your moral values, a moral value gleaned from the Bible. And then that means that the radically UNreligious left ought to be coming at you for violating the wall of separation between church and state. Irony indeed.
I didn't claim to know what your religion or ideology is. I asked a question to find out, and I said "If" you are that way, then, ....

Who is more likely to get into heaven: The man who gives his money away to charity of his own free will, or the man who gives none because it was usurped by government and given away?
Sorry, the IRS is not and should not be a charity.
