Children are very unpredictable at what they can suddenly do. I have a total of nine children and everyone of them was different.

Whilst the average was sort of 10 to 13 months one daughter never even crawled. She sort of flopped along like a seal and then suddenly at 8 months old she sort of hauled herself up onto two legs using the settee and was off.

One of my sons was walking up the stairs at nine months. I have also come to the conclusion that if a child has older siblings they will learn quicker to do things especially if the age gap is very close because they want to keep up.

In both families the eldest one was always the slowest doing something because they had no example before them. Yes OK they still got the full attention from myself and their mother, but it's not the same if you know what I mean. Very young children seem to have this telepathic ability between themselves.

Average is around 12 months. My daughter walked at 10 and I've seen kids as early as 8 months but it's normal for them to wait as long as 16 months.

Right around 12 months. Of course, some walk several months earlier and others several months later, but 12 months is about average.

I wouldn't say there is any average age as children do things when they are ready. Don't worry unless there are other signs of delay. My son never liked to crawl & one day at 13 months he just got up & walked. Hope this helps good luck

my little girl took her first steps just days before her first birthday, but i think it varies, and depends on a few different things, like maybe leg strength. i made sure she had alot of leg kicking and bouncing activities from the time she could hold her head up on her own
