MLB Umpire - hands down. NFL ref? Now way - put my body on the line on a field with 22 guys who are bigger than me and wear armor to boot? And I'm only a part time employee? The rest of the week I get to do my OTHER job?

As an MLB ump, I know I'm getting to stay in a city for a few days, rather than having to get ready to fly out in less than 24 hours. I get some very good union bennies, I'm not constantly in a track meet like basketball, which will wear on me as I grow older, or have to do it on ice as well while someone is trying to hit me with a little black disc going 75-100 mph.

I would pick the MLB umpire. The umps have a great union and get some outstanding benefits, not to mention a very good salary. Umpires that are good at what they do, get noticed and are hence scheduled for the big games like the All-Star Game, League Championship Series and World Series. Plus, seniority means a lot in umpiring and once you have that, you can be a crew chief and it makes you very hard to get rid of.

MLB umpire, simply because baseball is my favorite and I know the rules the most.

I can't tell anyone about NBA rules. It's tough to detect the smallest penalties in NFL. And all those big players skating and checking each other into the boards in the NHL.......kind of creepy.

MLB umpire, they play more games, I think they make more money, you get to work outside, and you don't have to worry about a 300lb man falling on you.

NBA arenas are hot and very noisy.

In the NHL, you could get hit by a frozen puck or sharp skate, and you have to break up fights.

MLB umpires could and do get hit by fast moving baseballs, but at least they get to wear protection while behind the plate.

Despite the fact MLB umpires take a Crazy beating with those fall tips Ide choose them. One they do get paid more. Two you get to work outdoors,Just something bout being in a big space filled with grass that makes ya feel good.

NBA ref - best way to stay in shape. Only downfall to ML:B umpire is that during bad weather, they can't go to the dugout or clubhouse like the players. Even the fans have it better - can seek shelter when raining. The umps have to be out there no matter what.

  • NFL Referee because it seems like the most fun.
