Do I have a reasonable chance of getting into UCLA or USC?
Well, I'm senior in high school and was wondering if I had a shot at those schools.
My SAT score is 1870 combined, with a 650 in Critical Reading and a 610 in both writing and Math. I'm retaking it this November, so hopefully I can increase the overall score to about 1950ish...
My SAT 2 score in Spanish was a 790, and I'm also taking the Biology, Math 2, and English SAT's, with a predicted score of 650 ish, maybe higher in bio and math.
I'm a member of several clubs, CSF, NHS, Key club, etc. More importantly, I'm secretary of Invisible Children's club, President of Spanish honor society, treasurer of spanish club, and president of Club Earth.
I'm a first generation college attendee with a fairly low family income, I'm a legal immigrant from Colombia, I came here 8 yrs ago. And i think that's about it, i don't know what else might be good to add....OOH... i do a lot of community service too. So yeah, do i have a reasonable shot??
More details, I've taken about 6-7 AP tests, passed them all, with two 3's, and two 5's, the rest in fours. I'm also in the international baccalaureate program, and I'm graduating with a full IB diploma. Rigorous schedule, all AP, IB, and honors classes.
My unweighted UC GPA, average for all four yeats, is 3.8.

If you have a killer essay, yeah you do have a chance. The fact that you're a first generation college student should also help. You should definitely go for a 2000+ SAT score as the two schools you mentioned are fairly competitive but 1950 will work as long as you have a great essay.
One thing you didn't mention is your GPA and that is a large portion of the admissions process so if you have at least a 3.7 unweighted and around 4.3 weighted you should be good
