How can we trust our government?
Just look at what is going on with our government. Cash for clunkers is a failure, the stimulus bill is a failure, social security is a failure, medicare is a failure, Medicaid is a failure, and it seems like every government program which is out there is either broke or not working. So why should we trust them to run our health care system?
Good points: But for Bulwinkl..
The cash for clunkers didn't fail because everyone wanted the program. It failed because the government is not efficient enough to get the payment to everyone in a timely manner. If you listened to what was being said yesterday, reports were that social security would be done in 2 years. But even if it lasts a little longer, there is no way that it will survive with all of the people who are getting ready to retire compared to people in the workforce. Yes, medicaid does have its issues and you have a point. But that is my point. The government was in charge of medicaid and now its in trouble. I never stated that everything was on this admin. But being involved in the social services, I have seen all kinds of fraud in medicaid billing. But you left out medicare which I think everyone would say is in trouble. All I ask is that you show me 1 government program which is working and is not broke. You can't!

You saw what you wanted to see.
What you do not see is the economy turning around.
The cash for clunkers failed because so many people took part?
The only person that would say that is some one that wants it to fail.
Social security is still solvent. Why would that be a failure.
The only trouble with medicare is the pricing for medicine in Medicare part D. That was put in by the bush administration to keep the price of medicine high for his campaign contributors.
The only reason why you do not trust the govt is because you are too much of a coward to see things as they are and not as you want them to be.

Government programs are not failing. They are doing exactly what those in power want them to. They are rewarding the friends of the criminal gang called "government" and are harming its enemies and most of the people (although, at least a substantial plurality of the minority that votes benefits).
This is inherent in the nature of government in general and "democratic" government in particular. To get elected, a political party needs to bribe or delude enough voters in order to get enough votes to win an election. Fortunately, for the government, the government schools are working to create enough gullible morons who will believe the lies of the politicians (if you doubt this, all you have to do is look at the enthusiastic support among those most recently exposed to the virus of government schooling for that demagogue we call the president).
For those who are on the take and those who are in charge, the government is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, even if they may occasionally.
Although most of the victims of government lack a class consciousness (thanks to the government's relentless propaganda and to the corruption of the concept of classes by the crackpot Karl Marx and his crazed cultists who murdered millions of people in the name of the "proletariat"), there are still a substantial amount who are aware that government is nothing more than an institution which seeks to become the monopolist of crime (this is why they are so enthusiastic about shutting down their competitors). Once the victims of exploitation realize that government is not a positive good, nor is it a "necessary evil" as some have claimed, but an unnecessary evil which ought to be abolished immediately and completely.
Our only hope for peace, freedom, and prosperity is to end government once and for all. The failure of the American Revolution and the Constitution (which led to an even bigger government than the one that existed prior to 1776) has proven once and for all that government cannot be limited. Therefore, the only realistic solution to protect the inalienable rights of man is to end government once and for all and allow the free market to run every industry.

"There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty." John Adams "No man's life, liberty or fortune is safe while our legislature is in session." Benjamin Franklin "Three groups spend other people's money: children, thieves, politicians. All three need supervision." Dick Armey "The ruling class has the schools and press under its thumb. This enables it to sway the emotions of the masses." Albert Einstein "Trust. . . but verify" Ronald Reagan

You can't. Watch out for yourself because it is a sure thing the government isn't going to watch out for you. Imagine what would happen in socialized medicine if the government didn't pay the hospitals, doctors and nurses in a timely manner? Everything would shut down like the car dealers are doing with "Cash for Clunkers" because the government hasn't paid 99.9% of the dealers. Do you want the government making life and death decisions for you and your family? No.

With Rahm Emanuel's brother writing the health care program its very scary. Those with disabilities will not be deemed worthy of care-and, sent to the death camps to die with 'no water'. Remember when Terry Shiavo died and the govt did nothing to stop her death-her parents begged to take care of her? Read this link from someone who has lived under the Marxist-Socialist health care in Sweden. Of course, Barry Obama wants to rush this bill through before anyone reads it-Because it means population control for the ill, disabled and elderly etc. The govt will not pay to keep you alive after a certain age. The govt will decide if you are worthy to live or die.

The founding fathers placed ultimate power in the hands of the people. Not government for a reason. It can't.

Don't forget the post office.
I wouldn't trust the government to run the sandbox at the local day care center.

one must love ones country and never trust its government.
always make them accountable, question the policies every step of the way.
Encourage competition
Only with competition can the best deal be won for the people
Other wise only the politicians who ran their policies through opposition from the public make money for themselves.
They get payback, and kickbacks and "gifts"
Beware

Our health care system is already a failure, in case you hadn't noticed. At least a change has potential for good, we know it's not going to get better staying the way it is.
