Who fired first Han or Quido?
I am not a true Star wars fan. I saw this question earlier this week but now I can't seem to find it. Can you all help me?
Are there two versions of the shot?

There's two versions, in the true, original movie, Han fires first. In the one with a bunch of BS added, Greedo fires first.

It's actually "Greedo" not "Quido". In truth there are THREE versions of this shot as there are THREE versions of the OT (Original Trilogy - ep 4 - 6) Those versions are the "originals" that were in theaters from 77 - 83 ... The SE versions that were re-released to theaters in 1997 with jacked up FX and better sound ... along with a few altered/added scenes ... The DVD version that came out in 2004.
In the "Original" version Han shot first.
In the SE version Greedo shot first, missed and then Han shot him.
In the DVD version they both shoot at the same time with Greedo missing and Han not missing.
This scene and the "Ghost Switch" at the end of ep VI are the only changes that really bug SW fans ... well, ok ... infuriate them. In this case Lucas said he didn't want Han to come across as a cold blooded killer so he made the change in the SE versions.
This was a case of Lucas being to "PC" ... the changes are horrid and totally unnecessary because it's obvious that Han shot him in self defense from the get go.
May The Force Be With You ...
To "Devlin B": I'm glad you are such a "mature" person, you must be a great role model for that child you are holding. As for "I shouldn't even have sent you an email" ... really ... sorry but when somebody is wrong they should be told that they are wrong. As for the "plant" ... sorry, wrong again ... that's my wife. She doesn't know a whole lot about SW but she does know that I'm rarely wrong. I do have to thank you in that respect, after showing her the nonsense filled rant that you sent to me I think she finally realized that she should keep her nose out of SW business ... until you can answer correctly maybe you should too.
To the person who asked the question ... sorry to use your question as a message board but "Devlin B." won't talk to me anymore and he needed to be told the truth.

From the version I first saw, Han shoots him first. In the special edition, Greedo shoots at Han first (so it would not make Han look like a cold killer) and Han makes a hilarious subtle (and digital) movement with his head to dodge the shot and shoots back. "Sorry about the mess."
