I feel a sense of great peace living in Australia - does anyone else feel the same?

I spent my whole life in Australia and I have experienced all that you say and I miss it.

Now I'm living in an Asian country which has some advantages. The people are mostly good but a simple relaxed life in the Australian countryside is also good.

Not everything is relaxed there and there is a big difference between tense impersonal city folk and relaxed country folk.

In smaller towns you will certainly get that brotherhood spirit to a certain degree.

I miss being able to smile at people in the street. It was my nature and it is like I am just stared at here.

I have to make the most of what I have anyway.

It's a lot better than some of the other places I've lived. I love the fact it only takes an hour to drive to work on the freeway.

My dear with this country in Chaos and I had the money I would be more then happy to find something that is much better then here. I'm very proud to be Australian myself. I think the image that we have of being very laid back and casual is fairly accurate. The country isn't perfect but nothing ever is, so I like to look to the good stuff that happens. There is also a great sense of community in Australia. Hope you get that PhD!
