I feel a sense of great peace living in Australia - does anyone else feel the same?

I've recently got my citizenship & I feel such a sense of peace. Not only does this country have great natural beauty, but the suburbs in various cities are so pretty as well. Previously, I've lived in countries which were competitive, expensive & a struggle - where people were just out to make a quick buck off you & women were either terribly abused or jeered at by men!

Here I've found that even if you accidentally drop loose change, there'll be people who will help you not only pick it up but even search for it with you! Whether you're old, divorced, pregnant or poor, people don't make judgments against you & just accept you for who you are! (I'm neither for that matter, this is a general observation of life here) Also they're very friendly & always smile - big change from passerbys openly checking you out from top to toe or talking about you in front of you or staring at you within 3 inches of distance!

I feel like I can comfortably live my dream here - do my PhD, teach (besides working at my day job) and just buy an affordable, pretty house in a suburb somewhere where I know I won't be slapped by humongous, unnecessary bills, corrupt government officers or men off the street who show up at the doorstep because they know there's a single woman living here!

What have your experiences been like?

There is good and bad everywhere but all of what you say is true in some places of Australia.

I hope you stay with it that peaceful energy. You are obviously feeling peaceful and attracting nice people.

I spent my whole life in Australia and I have experienced all that you say and I miss it.

Now I'm living in an Asian country which has some advantages. The people are mostly good but a simple relaxed life in the Australian countryside is also good.

Not everything is relaxed there and there is a big difference between tense impersonal city folk and relaxed country folk.

In smaller towns you will certainly get that brotherhood spirit to a certain degree.

I miss being able to smile at people in the street. It was my nature and it is like I am just stared at here.

I have to make the most of what I have anyway.

I wish you well in your life in Australia. Good luck to you.

It's a lot better than some of the other places I've lived. I love the fact it only takes an hour to drive to work on the freeway.

Though the Aussie teenagers seem to be spoiled and a bit lazy.

My dear with this country in Chaos and I had the money I would be more then happy to find something that is much better then here. For a country that is consider the greatest on earth it and united we stand, just look around does it look united? So much hatred, deceit, violence hell they rather help the rest of the world then people who live hear. Got to love it one basic thing Republicans cater to big business, rich and Democrats cater to us working stiffs. Sorry state af affairs So much misinformation going around and say something they don't like they want to cut off your nuts. Rah,Rah,Rah And yes been hearing if you don't like it move should have did just that 30 years ago now I can't even afford a ticket to ride. Can't even afford heath care but what the hell Medicare pays 80% and VA pays the rest no co pays and damn near get the same treatment Senators and Congressman get it called "socialized medicine" and like it or not your footing the bill You prefer to pay high insurance premiums that's up to you

I'm very proud to be Australian myself. I think the image that we have of being very laid back and casual is fairly accurate. The country isn't perfect but nothing ever is, so I like to look to the good stuff that happens. There is also a great sense of community in Australia. Hope you get that PhD!

you may seperate the situation you stay in, from the undeniable fact that there are no jobs (everywhere) for the profession you chosen. confident, that is depressing, yet no, changing united states of america can not exchange that. it is (regrettably) a case of long problematical seem at which jobs are obtainable and meaning gadgets are in call for, existence strikes on, not continually for everyones own betterment (properly not initially) Your skills will continually be useful, and be an enhancement to a destiny profession or different greater community based artwork (enormously precious by using the way). Its not all with regard to the money.. yet confident, sufficient money does help ;) That stated, contacts via voluntary/community artwork or church contacts could be an oblique income .. never lose or stay removed from gaining contacts. while digital watches got here alongside, mechanical makers lost their place in existence. while plastics and (greater much lower priced) distant places metallic got here alongside, the metallic industry went. The track/action picture "distribution" industry is complaining because of the fact we are in a position to all do what they had a monopoly on.. copying. Industries come and bypass, some come back, some in simple terms shrink and in common terms the main experienced shop/get their jobs. moving united states of america regrettably won't remedy your elementary project. and as such, maximum international places have a enormously necessary skills record, in case you at the instant are not on it, you stand no probability of a artwork/immigration visa. And its not all approximately very extreme professions, at one time Plumbers have been in very short grant in Australia (in all probability replaced now), yet while it have been nonetheless the case... how long would it take to re-practice ? ok, you won't desire to be a plumber.. yet became it money or in simple terms sticking steadfastly on your unique theory of a profession that mattered maximum ? each and every remember a e book from the final recession.. "who moved my cheese ?" a small common e book yet very pertinent message. suited needs on your new destiny, whereever and regardless of it is.
