I can't believe what I just saw (BQ inside)?
A 12 year old Little Leaguer just hit a home run. That's not a big deal right, but what he did when he hit it is. He actually "pimped" his home run. I know this is supposed to be fun but its Little League, this kid should not be doing this.
I know the league is about sportsmanship and whatnot, but I know if I was the pitcher, I'd be throwing at the kid the next at-bat.
Who else thinks 12 is way too young to be doing something like that?
BQ: Who is your teams leader in home runs and who's the leader in batting average?
When he hit the ball, he stood at home plate, stared at the ball, put his bat straight out, then dropped it.
I can't believe you guys don't know what pimping a home run is. Think Barry Bonds and whatnot.

Wow, what a little bastard. That's sportsmanship!
BQ: Jason Bay for homers and I think Kevin Youkilis for BA
Source(s): Seriously, I thought they stress sportsmanship in little league. Oh well, I guess with Manny and A-Rod and other youth role models (sarcasm) on TV, one just feels they have to imitate them - 1 decade ago
Well definately it is too young because 1.It discourages the pitcher right and the league is all about kindness and bonding and its a little league homer i dont think he should be pimping it the majors are different they have "egos" to influuence their fans n be cool
BQ: Aaron Hill leader in homeruns (31) which is hard to believe because last season his average was .267 with 10 homeruns. And the batting average leader is this monster guy w picked up from minors Randy Ruiz who's current average is .327
Source(s): TV :D - Anonymous1 decade ago
It is, but unfortunately it happens. They watch their heroes like Manny, A-Rod, and others do wacky stuff when they hit home runs and they try to be like them and try to celebrate their home runs just like the big leaguers do. Also, being on TV doesn't help either. However, ESPN loves it and will add it all to the overall highlight reel that they will eventually show at the end of the tournament.
BQ: Derek Jeter leads the Yankees with a .331 batting average and Mark Teixeira leads the team with 31 home runs.

Well.....if it happened at the local little league team I honestly wouldn't be surprised. 12 year olds are in 7th grade and that doesn't too bad, does it? Maybe because the team is REALLY competitive .
Edit: Dropping the bat is too much. I was thinking putting his hands up while running the bases. I'd defiantly do something to him next at bat.....maybe make a HUGE commotion next time I strike him out :-)

I do - I really have a problem with the extra telecasts of the LLWS nowadays - pitching and batting analysis, so much attention heaped onto the kids who then turn around and want to show off like the MLB players. I know, I am just an old fart for this, but I really wish it could just go back to being a kids game for them. I am all for letting them have thier moment of glory, but where are the sportsmanship lessons that LL is supposed to teach?

that team has "pimped" their home runs before in this years LLWS so it didn't surprise me.If i was the opposing pitcher,I would bean the kid the next time he came up. And if i was the coach i would tell my pitcher to bean the kid to let the other coach know that the kid better change. I think that those big kids are either older than what they say they are or their on HGH or something.

I don't have a TV in my sight right now, so describe this "pimp". Did he got chosen by Pimp My Homerun from MTV?
edit: He will have that personality for a long time and even in the MLB if he gets past Single A.
BQ: Ryan Howard(35 almost 36) and Shane Vic somewhere around .311.

"I know the league is about sportsmanship and whatnot, but I know if I was the pitcher, I'd be throwing at the kid the next at-bat."
You talk about sportsmanship, then claim you would throw at him his next time up. That's REAL sportsmanship. It will also get you ejected, and probably suspended.
As for what that player did, I saw nothing wrong. He just tied the game for his team.

I'd plunk him at his next at bat if i was the pitcher. You gonna give that attitude at an early age then you're gonna have to GET it at an early age. BAM! ;)
Anywho
BQ: Kendry Morales leads in HR and BA Sean O Sullivan with a whopping .345 :D lol He's a pitcher rofl!! But for reals Bobby Abreu leads for BA

I think it is. Like you said, Little League is about sportsmanship and that's something you shouldn't be doing at 12 years old!
BQ: Prince Fielder for home runs (35) and Braun for average (.313)

To tell you the truth I could care less! I would do both, I would "pimp" my homerun and have absolutely no problem at all throwing at the kid, bigger or smaller than me, really! I am the kind of player that will play hard and play it the right way but if something pisses me off, I'm gonna no doubt do somethin about it! and i would careless if i got thrown out as long as the pitch hit the kid, I will walk off the mound and into the dugout happy! But if there is nothing ticking me off then i am gonna play the game right! Yankees= HR: Mark Teixeira AVG: Derek Jeter GO YANKEES!!
