Should we start a blog for cats ......?
That have fleas , or urinate outside the box ? There are hundreds of these questions asked daily. Oh yeah, and when to take a cat to the Vet ?
By the way ... I just found out that if your cats paw is bleeding ...dip it in flour. Yes, that was a answer.
OK I will and Lorelie and Susan can help, since we think the same ;-)

What disturbs me most are the inappropriate elimination questions. I understand that this is a leading reason for people to get rid of their cats. I plan to spend more time helping with these questions because it can be a matter of life and death for the cats.
And fleas, yes. I am useless with fleas because none of my cats have ever had them. I am aware of the danger of many of the otc products out there and warn posters repeatedly that they should get tthe correct product from a vet. But there are people determined that they are going to get rid of fleas with vinegar and garlic (yesterday ), essential oils, almost all of which are toxic to cats ( a couple posters this week) or whatever nasty poisonous stuff they can buy in the supermarket. I get bored posting the same replies over and over.
And when to take the cat to the vet! I err on the side of caution for the reason I don't know how intelligent, accurate, or experienced any given poster is nor can I see the cat. Still, there are so many horrifying posts describing situations that are clearly medical emergencies. I mean, it is hard to be supportive and kind to these people. Are they just idiots or afraid to spend the money? And what are we supposed to do here if their cat is bleeding to death or covered with pussy ulcers or whatever ? What ever are they thinking and would they post such a question on YA if it were them or a family member with the same condition?
Yeah, start a blog.

Some of the questions on here can get me angry. I'll be honest about that.
I hate the ones where people won't spay/neuter their pets. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that there are thousands of homeless pets already in shelters. How can they truly love animals, if they keep adding to the problem?
And some of the health questions blow my mind! It is one thing if they are asking something minor, like how to clean a small scratch on their cat's ear. But I have seen questions like "I think my cat is dying, should I take it to the vet's?" or "My cat has a huge gaping hole in its leg. What's wrong?" If you need someone to tell you that you need to get your cat to the vet as soon as possible, then I don't think you have any business owning a pet.
Okay...sorry about that rant. But it makes me mad and really sad when I see questions like that!

LOL...I sometimes think that, too, but I always learn something every time I read these questions. And I think people think their situation is unique - in a way, it is, of course, because every cat is unique, even if their problems are nearly all the same. What I wonder is how many people, when they type in their question, get question/answer suggestions from Yahoo that are similar to theirs, but never check them out? I've probably thought to ask three times as many questions as I actually have because of that feature.
