Probably because all the big factory farm companies have paid off (or otherwise convinced) legislators to not do so. and with the economy in the shape it is, i could see (sadly) where a legislator who is concerned about getting relected (or keepinghis/her party popular) would try not to do anything that would harm the economy (ie. force farmers and companies to spend billions of dollars redoing their livestock areas and farming methods to meet new laws). Laws that inhibit buisness developement are rarely well-recieved, even when its something that should be done anyway.

people lose nothing by having laws in place to insure they don't abuse or neglect their pets. it doesn't upset the economy or tick off a lot of people, so those laws are a ton easier to get passed than farm animal laws.

Farm animals are in deed I don't know which state you live in but I have worked with law enforcement and they are. And not all pets are protected many will never get helped which is so sad. But if someone reports abuse at a farm they will go out and save the sweet animals.

Silly Vegan; farm animals are protected. There are reams of laws and a multitude of agencies that assure farm animals are humanely treated. The Vegan community and PETA are responsible for putting more animals at risk than any farming group. By interfering with farming operations they have also put human lives at risk.

Read some of the questions from cat owners in this section alone and try to remind us again about the laws protecting pets. 10% of the responders here are killing their animals through sheer ignorance and neglect. And I cannot truthfully remember when some farmer threatened to put one of his animals in a microwave or let it wander the busy streets of a city. Neither do farmers raise more animals than they can sell. The shelter in the city up the road from my farm killed over 700 'surplus pets' last year. If memory serves me correctly there were no cows or sheep included in that number.

Yes, I farm and I am proud of it; I make no apologies for it.

livestock are secure against abuse. maximum countries have rules regulating this and function set up councils to supervise new law. i'm undecided what makes you think of they at the instant are not secure yet once you have self belief animal abuse or forget is going on you are able to document whoever is in charge and an examine will ensue. between the biggest issues nonetheless to be triumph over with law is that animals are nonetheless seen ingredients decrease than maximum criminal codes are for this reason taken care of as such (confident even pets!). I recommend you grow to be extra advised approximately government law on your are and get entangled to have this replaced or better whilst you at the instant are not satistied with the guidelines in place.

This is because farm animals are used for food. For example cows produce milk for cheese and cream, but cats don't. And sheep are kept for their wool, but dogs aren't for their fur.

because farm animals are food. I guess so are some pets.... mmmm, dog. but anyways, you eat them, that's why.
