I have been offered a job in Melbourne but don't know if I should take it.?
I am an American and am wondering how much different Australia really is. Like how is the cost of living compared to the West Coast of the U.S.? Also, how bad are the insects? Are the people there friendly and accepting? My husband is Australian but from a different part. So, he doesn't have any answers really.

you should be fine here. its a great place to live. i don't know much about the cost to live in america but its probably much the same, maybe cheaper.
its funny how people overseas think we have insects and animals everywhere.lol
ants can be a problem in summer but if your clean and get ant killer you will be fine.
most people here are friendly, i know id be excited to meet an american.

I can't compare the cost of living but I say ,give it a go. Australia is a wonderful country to live in Australia is multi cultural so you will find many nationalities here.

Aussies are Aussies. If your husband is one then he is no different to other Aussies, unless of course he is a naturalised Aussie then he may not be fully indoctrinated into the way of life. One city is no different to another.
There are no insects in Melbourne, apart from a few flies and mosquito's, but not as many of them as other cities.
Cost of living is relative to pay rates, so can't really be compared.
