Life After Death = Life Before Birth?

I understood death more after I heard this. It makes sense, doesn't it? Wouldn't life after death essentially be the same as life before birth?

Our journey back to God is a long one. It is one where we

work to earn our right to re unite with our Creator. Our work

consists of recognizing that we are all a part of our Creator

and sharing our love with all men. How long will that take?

Between earth lives we analyze our past life to see how

we performed. Then with a panel of higher souls we write

a script for our next incarnation. what challenges do we need

to work on; how will we accomplish the tasks, who will be

the other actors in our script? We plan it out but allow variations.

A loving Creator gives us constant help and all the time we need.

I'm a little confused. Life before birth is in the womb for nine months. But life after death is merely the fact that the body dies little by little, so that hair and fingernails continue to grow for a little while.

If we say life before conception, then the parallel is closer. But what I really think you mean is not life, but consciousness or awareness. There is no function without the structure to do that function. Therefore, there can be no consciousness before or after there is a brain to do it with.

What's weird is, if there is nothing before birth, that means life came from nothing. So, if there is nothing after death, why can't it be assumed that life can come from that too?

    You may possibly be right.

The Hasidic Jews believe in rebirth or reincarnation. They call it gilgul.

They believe God sends us back to earth on occasion to be reborn -- either on some mission from God, or to help us learn new lessons.

As a Christian, I could accept that idea if it culminates in a final, glorious resurrection at the end of the process of rebirths.

I do know a few people who remember their pre-birth existence, and I have also personally met children and young people who remember when they were in the concentration camps 65 or more years ago.

It may be that, after leaving the body for this life, we review our life, are judged accordingly with grace and love, and perhaps after a time of rest and learning are sent back.

    I'm open-minded about this.

Yes, essentially - there is no life after death or before birth (well technically conception).

it is possible. but truly the book of genesis says god created all the host of heaven and said they were good, i think he was literally talking about the spirit that will yet be born on earth. it is remotely possible he was referring to all spirits that will ever inhabit any and all solar systems but it is more probable he was talking about the earth and its heaven. i admit both possibilities could be true.

but life after death only proves, literally that we dont die in the spirit. it could be said that life begins at conception, ad therefore the life after death had a beginning only at conception.

    i dont believe it though.

in LDS theology it is written in a couple of places, first, that the spirit is eternal.

and then it is taught from the bible that god says to a prophet, Jeremiah, "before you were formed in the womb, I knew you" . the LDS church says this is a proof of the pre existence of mans spirit. if the spirit is eternal after death then yes it could be eternal before birth. but i think these two verses express the theology more correctly.

There is eternal life. Not life after death. Eternal life in hell begins at birth. Eternal life in heaven begins when Jesus is accepted as Savior and Lord.

Life before death is not as profound as one never existed before conception.

No, because life after death is spiritual. Before your birth and after being conceived, you were living, a human.
