We can fund health care reform without adding to the deficit?

If Governor Perry and his supporters want Texas to secede from the United States, the federal funds we would save would be enough to supplement health care for all! The only cost to us would be moving border patrol to the north.

The billions of dollars we spend in Texas;

1) Medicare, Medicaid

2) Social Security

3) Disability

4) Infrastructure (maintenance, repairs, new

construction, etc)

5) Security and maintenance at all National

parks, monuments, etc.

6) All public schools, hospitals, libraries, etc.

Meanwhile, in addition to the billions saved, we could set up a tollway system to allow Texans in to the U.S. for a fee. Or we could simply sell it back to Mexico.

My question is: Do the Texans who believe in seceding, think they can keep the perks of a Federal government or can they be self sufficient?

Update:

Awww Richie,

Do you normally disrespect people by not only cutting them down, but not even have the courtesy to answer the question?

All it does is make you look foolish to the people who read the answers.

Update 2:

Kevin m,

Does that mean that we can put a bounty on the heads of Texan's that cross in to the U.S. illegally?

I am in favor of Texico seceeding. We could put tarrifs on everything from their passports into the lucrative us and take away all their federal aviation jet fighters and leave them with their guns.

We could embargo them, save billions on undocumented workers and change our whole electoral system much to the left. I am for it. What has texas ever done for the US.

They shot kennedy and voted for Bush...lol

Then, being a foreign nation we could bomb them at will if they start a nuclear program, send our troops in and colonize them. Texico would be a barren wasteland of desert and maybe then they would realize they had it pretty good living here in the good ole USA that they hate so much all of a sudden now that we have a black president.

There is a problem. However; Obama's bill will only solve the problem in the short term. In the long-term, it will do more damage than good. You say that Obama insists it won't add to the deficit. Assuming he goes through with this promise (unlike almost all of his others), where do you think those billions of dollars are going to come from? The only way to pay for it other than increasing the deficit is to increase taxes. So in a way, people will be paying for their health insurance, but instead, their money will go through the government first. Do you believe that this bill will make healthcare affordable? Since when has the government ever lowered the price/ tax on ANYTHING?? Have you even read the bill? obviously you haven't. Read it, then try again.

Yes but what would you do when they drop the corporate tax in Texas to 10% and you lose all your industry and business. Then they bus the non-producers up to the new border and just dump them in your backyard. HaHaHa! Then they drop personal income and capital gains taxes to 10% and eliminate the death tax. All those Hollywood/sports types that say real good Marxist stuff in front of the camera at the democrat convention...well, ya know....I got a $20 million deal coming up and 10% is much better than 90% tax. Along with most millionaires leaving - your tax base would collapse.

We can put cameras in your part (now that Alaska and the entire SE seceded with us) and make a reality show out of it. Watch you eat each other.

Texas gives more to the US government than it gets back. And, incidently, it is about the ONLY US state that is in a solid fiscal position right now.

From a purely fiscal standpoint, Texans would probably be better off outside the US.

  • Like always liberals do not understand simple math. The tax revenue that would be lost (which pays for all of the programs you mentioned) would be more than any of those programs cost, as texans pay more in taxes than they recieve in services. The rest is re-distributed to other states that pay less taxes.

Obama was told by his deficit advisor or whatever that the health care bill wouldn't help the deficit. Yet he trying to pass it anyway. Any government organization won't last. I don't want it to be the 49 states. I mean the 50 nifty united states song is awesome! It would just throw everything off unless we added Puerto Rico as a state which i wouldn't like.

Did you forget about the income taxes Texans pay? Texans pay more in federal taxes than they receive from the government so it would be a loss to the US

Texas has enough people and good enough economy to float its self along with or without the government. And whos to say those things you listed will be there for much longer cause if Obama has his way they won't be.

sorry, but only a tiny fraction of Texans actually want to secede. The rest of us are aware that Texas needs the Union to survive.
