What are some really strange/interesting things to do in Georgia?

I moved to Georgia from Cali just a couple of months ago. I'm looking for really unique things to do in this state.

I've already been to Helen to feed the bears, the Georgia Guidestones....and Babyland Hospital....anything else I have to see?

Oh, Georgia is awash with stuff to do. Here's some things that I recommend.

Up in the northwest corner of the state is Cloudland Canyon State Park. It's located off Georgia State Route 136 between LaFayette and Trenton. It's a large rift cut into Lookout Mountain over millions of years. There are hiking trails of various difficulty around the rim and down into the canyon to some nice waterfalls.

Also in the northwest part of the state, the Chieftains Trail takes you to various historical areas that preserve some of the Native American heritage of the area. These include the Etowah Indian Mounds in Cartersville, New Echota, the former capital of the Cherokee Nation, outside Calhoun, and the Chief Vann House in Chatsworth.

Up in the mountains is a treasure trove of sights. Check out the General Store and the Gold Rush museum on the town square in Dahlonega. Head up to one of the many apple barns owned by the orchards along State Route 5 and State Route 52 around Ellijay. Further north in Blue Ridge is the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, a sightseeing train that runs along the Toccoa River north to McCaysville. Every October, Hiawassee hosts the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival, a great family event with live music. A drive across the Russell-Brasstown Scenic byway in the fall is a must see, and it's located next to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in the state, and Vogel State Park, a beautiful retreat snuggled into a forested mountain cove.

In the Metro Atlanta area, there's numerous attractions to suit just about any taste. For those with a historical mind, there's the Cyclorama in Grant Park, the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park in Marietta, and the Martin Luther King Jr. historic site. There are several art museums. More "touristy" attractions include the World of Coke, the Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain Park, Six Flags Over Georgia, and Underground Atlanta.

Between Atlanta and Columbus, be sure to stop at FDR's Little White House, Callaway Gardens, and FDR State Park.

Augusta and Columbus both have nice riverwalks to take in the city. Athens is a great college town, a good place to go for live bands. Macon is home to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

Savannah is a very beautiful colonial city. Live oak lined avenues, picturesque squares, and a vibrant riverfront scene. Just a short drive a way is Tybee Island, jutting out into the Atlantic where the Savannah River flows into the ocean. It has a very nice lighthouse to visit.

Further south on I-95 is Brunswick and the Golden Isles, a port city located adjacent to several barrier islands that lie on the ocean. St. Simons and Jekyll have bridges and causeways leading to them, while Cumberland Island requires a charter boat, but is well worth it, it is one of the last remaining protected areas on the East Coast, and is home to a population of wild horses.

South of Waycross is the Okefenokee Swamp, an outstanding place to view wildlife and nature at it's wildest.

Finally, in southwest Georgia, you have Plains, Georgia, home to Jimmy Carter, as well as the S.A.M. Shortline Sightseeing train.

The World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta is amazing! The Atlanta aquarium has Beluga Whales which are pretty cool. We went to go see Stone Mountain with the confederate soldiers carved into it just outside of Atlanta and that was pretty fun. They had a lazer show at night.

The Georgia/Carolina game is next weekend in Athens, but I can't go! It should be a really interesting game, though! The pandas at the Atlanta zoo are really cute, but I was a little bored there.

In Chattanooga, Tennessee (it isn't too far away from Atlanta, it's just outside of Georgia) there's this place called the Lost Sea which is this lake underground in some caves and I liked that a lot. I haven't really been to Savannah, but there should be some really cool, unique attractions there like ghost tours and things.

I like Georgia a lot. I hope you enjoy yourself.
