Should I go back to get a MA in Psych?

Basically I have a BA in Design Theory and thinking about my career. I have been out of school for 2 years and really want to focus on planning and creative strategy and directing for my next step. I was thinking that having a stronger psych background would help me understand markets, why people do things, and analyze their actions to help create better ideas.

In college I had some of the psych and sociology courses and liked the perspective they gave to me. Wondering if others think that these fields may help even more, or if anyone has another program direction that they think could help someone in the direction I would like to move. Thank you!

Unless you're planning on hanging out a shingle and listening to people cry all day I'd forget the MA. Just read some good books. Or go old school. We as a human race haven't changed that much in 1700 years.

Since your background in Design Theory, I'm assuming you have a good HCI background. If you want to continue that field, but just want more exposure into that (along with combining that study with economics and psychology), you may want to consider the Georgia Institute of Technology's GVU. Other universities may have similar programs, but I am not familiar with them. I know the GVU has links with the MS HCI program, but I believe there are other studies that are not as HCI centric, but also deal with the combination of computing, economics, and psychology.

As for an MA in Psych, it may be helpful, but a more focused program may be more of what you are interested in. Hope that helps! I'm not sure many people are aware of the GVU and wanted to spread the word as they have a lot of interesting things going on there.
