  • Can you take a camera backpack into stores in Tokyo?

I will be traveling around Japan in a few weeks and wondering if there is any issue bringing a small Canon backback into stores with my DSLR and like 2 extra lenses in it?

Any suggestions for taking my DSLR around with me?

  • Going to be in Tokyo for two weeks and have a JR pass for one, what to see?

I am going to be in Tokyo for two weeks next month (January) and looking at picking up a one week JR pass before I go. I am curious what people recommend as some of the most see places around Japan I should try and make it to?

So far I am most likely going to go to Kyoto and probably Nara, but the rest is open. My main goal is to see some of the smaller areas of Japan to experience more than just Tokyo while I am there.

    Thank you for any ideas!

  • Two weeks in Japan, what should we do?

I am traveling to Japan for two weeks with my sister. We are flying into Haneda on some pretty cheap tickets I found. Just looking for ideas of good things to see in the Tokyo area or farther for a short stay. Maybe even the best areas to look for hotels and thoughts on cheap travel like rail passes and day passes. Thank you for any insight you can lend!

  • Should I visit Japan in the Winter (early to mid January) or Summer (mid May to early June)?

I am planning a trip to Japan around my sister's free time from school and curious as to what people would recommend. Our goal would be to see a few larger cities and some of the country side, areas we visit is fairly open if any are better at certain times.

Thank you for your suggestions and/or tips!

  • White coating on teeth?

I just had a date with a girl that had some sort of white buildup by her gums on her four front teeth. I was almost like a white skin, not like plaque. Her gums seemed to be okay, but one tooth did seem to have some decay. Curious as to what it could have been, needless to say it was very unattractive and distracting. Thank you.

  • What are some good web developer conferences?

I am an interactive developer/user experience architect. I primarily use PHP (Zend Framework and Code Igniter), Flash, and Javascript (MooTools and Jquery). I recently have started at a company that has the budget to send me to a couple conferences a year if the schedule aligns. I only know of a few larger ones like SXSW, Zendcon, and FoWA. I am curious if anyone else knows of some decent related conferences that are pretty interesting. They can be anywhere as long as the primary language is English for my sake, I will just have to make a stronger case if they are overseas. (but it would be awesome to go back overseas)

    Thank you!

  • Should I take this job?

Basically I work as a web developer in Minneapolis, MN and make around 40k a year. I love the region, and don't hate my job. A recent offer has arose where I could move to Chicago for about 50k a year and the position would be more so towards where I would like to work in my career. The draw backs are that I will be working in house at a large company, I do not enjoy the region nearly as much, and I will be quite farther away from family with my nearest friend being 30 miles away in Chicago...

Part of me says take it for the opportunity to grow in my field, the other have says to not take it being I am about 80% sure I will not enjoy the location nearly as much. I am just looking for advice or what others would do. Right now both choices are sitting way to level in my mind and trying to make one win. Thank you!

  • Should I go back to get a MA in Psych?

Basically I have a BA in Design Theory and thinking about my career. I have been out of school for 2 years and really want to focus on planning and creative strategy and directing for my next step. I was thinking that having a stronger psych background would help me understand markets, why people do things, and analyze their actions to help create better ideas.

In college I had some of the psych and sociology courses and liked the perspective they gave to me. Wondering if others think that these fields may help even more, or if anyone has another program direction that they think could help someone in the direction I would like to move. Thank you!

  • About how much to fix a chip in a car windshield?

Driving to my parents' place a SUV threw up a stone and it made a little chip in my window with a tiny 1cm crescent crack under it, but it does not go all the way through. It is the windshield on a 09 VW Rabbit if anyone needs that for some reason.

I plan on taking it in later this week, but wanted to know what to expect or if I should go through the hassle of using my car insurance which will fill them at no cost and without a claim.

    Thank you!

  • What are some good books for learning how to develop web applications?

I have a pretty decent understanding of PHP, JavaScript, ActionScript, HTML, CSS and all that jazz. But I have not really developed much from scratch, I have started learning the Zend Framework and using it with the MVC pattern, but could really use some good sources for learning proper ways of structuring code and building a web application. My schooling did not offer me a proper class in development and I am looking to teach myself with some good sources so I am not just throwing functions together all willy nilly. Thank you!

  • What does it mean if the two prongs on a plug-in are sideways?

I was looking at my A/C in my apt and it has this type of plug, I am guessing it is then a 220 or 240 volt outlet, but I don't know.

  • Will my VW Rabbit have the 6 ?

I forgot to ask before I started the process being it was not important to me but now I would like to know, I recall it had some upgrade and that the cd player had a button called mix. It is a 2 door 09 that I am getting off the lot. Thank you!

  • Question about getting a new hatchback car.?

    Hello,

I am interested in getting a new car and really like the small hatchbacks for style. I was curious what anyone thought of the 09 Aveo that just came out.

The new gas mileage seems pretty good, only two less than the Yaris but I like the design a lot more on the Aveo. But I have heard some bad things about it for handling and interior noise from it running and was also curious if that was just because it was a hatchback?
