Joe Wilson calls Obama a liar?
So if you haven't heard already, H of R Republican Joe Wilson called Obama a liar during his address to Congress. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUC2rGj2VqE&feature...
His outburst was uncalled for (no matter if you agree with Rep. Wilson or not), but understandable. I liked how Obama quickly gathered himself and kept going on his speech. I also like that Pelosi didn't do anything then after his outburst (mainly because she didn't hear what he said, as is evidenced in the video). And I also liked how Wilson immediately called the White House to apologize after the speech.
While I don't care if you agree with Wilson or not, I would like to know what other people think. What did you think of Obama's reaction? Pelosi's? Wilson's apology?
Many thanks, and even though this is the politics section of Yahoo! Answers, let's try to be civil :-)

I appreciate and applaud Wilson's sentiment but it was the wrong place and time. Everyone involved has surprisingly acted like adults, but I have a feeling Pelosi is not going to just let it drop, despite what she has said to the contrary.

Here is what I think.
I am an Independent. Not Democrat, nor Republican. However, I probably won't be voting Republican after this. Not because of the outburst, but what happened after it. I honestly don't see anything wrong with what Joe Wilson did, but it was what he did after his party turned on him and coerced him to apologize that turned me off to them.
To me, Joe Wilson is now a tool. You can't all of a sudden get some big ones and call someone (to their face, I might add) a LIE and then -when it's time to prove your point - you apologize. Even if he didn't apologize for what he said, he still apologized.
He should have used that time to clearly stand behind his beliefs and presented evidence to support his reasoning. But what he did was bow down to the Party of No and did what they told him to do so that he could SAVE their image.
Obama called this reform a Moral Responsibility. A True Moral person stands behind his/her beliefs and presents evidence to support those beliefs, not lay down and apologize because your party told you to. If your party isn't doing anything, and you have something to show - then your ultimate responsibility is to the people, NOT the party......
Which is why I almost have to think that he only did it for political reasons.
Well, it's definitely hurting him now.

Joe Wilson spoke for me and many others when he called out the lying president, the democrates can get their breeches in a bunch if they want, but I still recall back in 2005 when they boo'ed President Bush 3 times during a speech to congress. So now its not ok from a republican, they always did have a double standard for themselves. LOSERS

Wilson disgraced his state and the Republican party...
As the saying goes, when you point a finger at someone you point three back at you... Ol' Joe, fell flat on his face.... with this one.
The facts are Obama was saying the truth when he said "Illegal immigrants won't receive free health care." It is written in the the bill, it is a straight fact... Calling Obama a liar on this point makes Ol' Joe a liar.
Then again it's funny to see the Republican applaud they guy, they truly have proved that facts don't mean truth, to the Republican party of today.

Well, as far is how he handled it, he didn't let it rattle him too much. But he responded with another lie. Because he was called out for being a liar, which he is, and did.
That being said, it wasn't the place for it.
The apology was asked for by the Republican leadership. I believe he's sorry he burst out in that venue, but not sorry for calling him a liar in general, because he is a liar, and Joe Wilson knows he is. Barack Obama knows that he's a liar.

I think Joe Wilson forgot that he is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, not the British Parliament.
it's sad that during a speech where the President of the United States called for our lawmakers to work together and quit the lies and name calling, one lawmaker chose to embarrass himself and his constituents by doing just that.
I think Obama handled it well, and I am glad he did not take Wilson's bait and end up drawn into an argument about it on live television.

So he called the president out on national TV? Isn't that freedom of speech? If it wasn't him, it would be someone else. I applaud the guy and I don't think he should have apologized for having an opinion.
Obama?-- eh.. surprised he didn't get all mad and say something
Pelosi is out of it.

It's a scream that Pelosi's pea brain is only capable of two things:
1. Trying to look alert (which she isn't).
2. Smiling for the camera.

Obama and Pelosi were mature adults who ignored the childish outburst. Obama accepted Wilson's apology afterwards.

I think Joe Wilson is a hero. He called the President out for his outright lies. By the way, they apologized when they boo'd President Bush at his state of the union too, except Bush was telling the truth.

Wilson just spoke the truth.Remember o5 all the lib's heckled Bush to death in a joint sessions. BO should have booed out of the house the *ucking liar....
