what does the term poor mans contraception mean?

what does the terminology "poor man's contraception" mean? Someone told me it was something they did in the old days before condoms etc

    I think they mean the withdrawal method, when the man pulls out before orgasm, not very reliable and a lot of "fair maidens" got caught out by that one!

    From a woman's point of view, the best form of contraception is a simple 'NO!'

    When 'free love' became popular in the 60s, a spermicidal sponge was available. Girls in the know put it between their knees and gripped it tight.

    Of course, someone had to write on the back of a dirty lorry: 'Don't pull out to avoid a child.'

    Either as above or possibly the rhythm method - no sex at the presumed fertile time of the month - practised widely in past at least in Ireland - where families were 6+ children.

    Ie. about as reliable as pulling out.

    Dude, most conservatives want to choose for everyone else but not themselves. Most men over 40 are conservatives. Most men over 40 have had vasectomies. They will not try to ban them.
